Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, “You Need God For your Daily Existence”. I have come to realise that you cannot breathe so much of oxygen today, and then say you do not need it tomorrow. You can’t go on strike from breathing, simply because you breathed so much yesterday. No! You will die if you try it.To survive, you must continuously breathe in oxygen. Medically, the maximum time any mortal being can live without oxygen is roughly 4 minutes. Meaning, you can’t do without it. In the same vein, you can never have enough of God in your life. Like the oxygen, you need Him to survive. “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7). Job 33:4 says, “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Indeed, the Almighty God is the breathe of life – the oxygen – you need for your daily survival. Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits.” Really, God’s benefits of yesterday isn’t enough to carry you for today. You need continuous infilling of His daily benefits to survive. Why? Each day presents itself with new devils and challenges. Therefore, you need God’s fresh anointing to conquer the battle for the day. To stay on the cutting edge, you must depend on God to survive.
As Christians, we do not stop growing in Christ. There is no limit or ceiling placed on our spiritual maturity. As long as we are alive here on earth, we keep growing, learning and discovering more of God. It is at this standpoint that we become victorious over the daily emissaries released by the devil against us. Your anointing of yesterday isn’t enough to fight the battle of today. Yes, you need a fresh fire every day, just like you need to eat daily to survive. Nobody wakes up and say yesterday’s food is enough to carry him or her for today. If you are fasting for a while, it’s ok. Otherwise you become weary or burnout as the heat of the day increases. We all need to eat and drink water to survive each day. Jesus said to his disciples, “You are clean by the word I have spoken to you” (John 15:3). If you noticed from his statement, Jesus didn’t say, “You are forever clean or perpetually clean by the word”. You keep getting clean as long as you keep taking the word. It is not a one-off exercise. It is a constant exercise. Psalm 119:9 asked: “How can a young man cleanse his way? By keeping your word.” Listen, you do not take a bath today, and say you are clean forever. No! You keep bathing each day, sometimes twice a day, so that you will be constantly clean from dirts.
In the same vein, you continuously soak yourself in the “word” to keep yourself unspotted from daily contact with the world. Do you know the amazing Truth? Jesus is the Word. Hallelujah! The book of John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We can see emphatically from this scripture that Jesus equals the word. As you can’t do without food to survive, so you can’t do without Him – the living word – and survive. Jesus said, “For without me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5). For it is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4). Many people appear to be alive physically, but literally dead spiritually. Why? They are starved of the word. The life of God is not in them. The Lord said to Joshua, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). Remember, not relying on God for your daily existence is like drinking a cup of poison that kills slowly. On the outside, you look well, but dying slowly on the inside. That will not be your portion in Jesus Name. As you wake up each day, hook up with your maker, your source of being. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
