Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. I believe you had a fulfilled weekend. Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “What You Say You Become”. Let me begin by saying that a lot of people have been benched and reduced to the valley side of life as a result of negative confessions of their mouth. Where you are today is as a result of what you said yesterday; and where you will be tomorrow will be as a result of what you are saying today. By implication, it means you can’t rise above the level of the confessions of your mouth. Meaning, what you say – positive or negative – puts a ceiling or limit to what you become in life. Many years ago, I told myself I was going to become an academic doctor. I confessed it, believe it, and started working towards it. Today it is a reality. What you say you become. Words are powerful and contagious. They are seed producing fruits. Proverbs 13:2 says, “A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth”. This may sound funny or trivial, but unfortunately many are bound by the words of their mouth. “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matt.12:37).
Words such as – it is not possible, can I ever make it in life, all my mates are getting married except me, that old witch in my family is the one causing my downfall, poor me, nothing good comes my way, and things keep getting tougher for me – are deadly words that can keep you down and become reality in your life. Until you start confessing right with your mouth, nothing good comes your way. Do you remember the story of the 12 spies in the Bible? In Numbers 13, the LORD spoke to Moses to send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which He planned to give to the children of Israel. Then Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan. So, they went up and spied out the land. Having spied the land, they returned back to Moses with their reports. Now, this is where the problem began with the spies. What is in their hearts began to come out when they returned. Like the bible rightly said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). Often times, the confessions of our mouth – positive or negative – portrays the current state of our hearts.
Then the spies told Moses, “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large” (Num. 13:28). But two of the spies, Caleb and Joshua, refuted the reports of the other 10 spies saying, we can overcome the land. But these other 10 spies shut them down saying, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we…there we saw the giants; and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight” (Num. 13:32-33). Did you notice their confessions – GRASSHOPPERS MENTALITY. They got punished for their negative report, and never entered the promise land. Please, never allow any problem to make you say negative things. Rather, hold your head up high – look at yourself in the mirror and say – I can make it because “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil.4:13). Remember, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Prov.18:21). Fill your mouth with life, and not death. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
