Contact without Contamination

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Contact without Contamination”. One major challenge the church has faced in recent times, is the struggle to stay uncontaminated in a contaminated world. In other words, the ability to carry out God’s given assignment without being negatively influenced by the world system! As a matter of fact, we can’t wish the world system away. We are in the world, living within the world system, but the Greater one lives in us even though we are in the world. No wonder the bible declares, “You are in the world, but not of the world” (John 17:16). God wants us to be in contact with the world without being contaminated. Meaning, to stay unspotted by living clean in an unclean world! Jesus boldly declared, “For the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me” (John 14:30). Jesus had contact with the world without contamination. And He expects the same from you and me. If it is impossible for us to live holy and stay uncontaminated, then it is unjust for God to command us saying, “Be ye holy for I am Holy” (Lev. 20:26; 1 Pet. 1:16). Yes, God made that declaration to us because he knew it’s possible to live holy in an unholy world.
When Adam fell in the Garden of Eden, the earth was hijacked and polluted by Satan. It took the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to restore the order back to mankind. But did that diminish the operations of the devil here on earth? Absolutely not! Evil still reigns; wickedness still abounds; and sickness and diseases are still on the increase. But in the midst of all, those who surrender to the Lord Jesus, abides under the shelter of the Most High, far above all principalities and powers. As it stands in the world today, there are two camps. No demilitarized zone or sitting on the fence. You are either in God’s camp or the devils’ camp. As children of God here in this world, our role is to influence those in the enemy’s camp into God’s camp, not the other way around as it’s happening today. Presently, you hardly tell the difference between some believers and unbelievers. So many strange practices by the unbelievers is being brought into our churches today. Time will not permit me to mention some of them. If you dare ask some believers about it, you get answers like: It’s a strategy to get the unbelievers to come to church and receive Christ.
Really, have we run out of ideas as Christians? Do we need to use what God detests to get people to Him? Or do we need Satan to teach us soul winning strategy by employing his tricks and gimmicks that is taking more people away from God? I strongly believe we need a rethink in this area. Some may ask: How then do we stay uncontaminated? You see, God gave us a model or pattern of how we should live and conduct ourselves in this world. While admonishing the brethren, Apostle John wrote: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever. Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come” (1 John 2:15-18). If I may ask: Was Apostle John advocating we should hate the good things of life by living in pain and abject poverty? I don’t think so! What he’s saying here is Priority! Putting God first, and letting Him have His rule over your passion, desire, and your entire life.
God is not against us having the good things of life here on earth. He said in Isaiah 1:19, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” He also declared In Job 36:11, “If you obey and serve me, you will spend your days in prosperity, and your years in pleasure.” Yes, there are good enjoyment in the land, and God wants us to partake of them. But we must be obedient and live in accordance to his will purposes for our lives. Jesus admonished us saying, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matt. 6:33). What are all these things Jesus talked about? They are the good things of life, but our primary focus must be set on God. Like I usually tell people, you can be rich and serve God; you can be rich and be holy; and you can also be rich and go to heaven, as long as you live in obedience to God’s word. The patriarchs – Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – are typical examples of men who lived and enjoyed wealth and riches in this world, and yet served God and went to be with the Lord. Money is good; the good things of life are excellent. But God does not want them to have us. “You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matt. 6:24). “He is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:14). Have a Fantastic Week! With love, Elvis!
