Pursuing And Fulfilling Your Purpose
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Pursuing And Fulfilling Your Purpose”. There is a saying that, “Where purpose is not known abuse is inevitable.” Many lives are under abuse today due to lack of purpose. Indeed, life becomes a rat-race without a goal in view, when purpose is not known. While being questioned by the Pilate, Jesus answered him and said: “For this purpose was I born” (John 18:33-37). Jesus knew his purpose, and we cannot be any different. A man of purpose is confident, because he knows where he is heading in life. Do you know your purpose? Why do you exist? Purpose simply means the reason for being. It is the answer to “why” of one’s existence here on earth. Your purpose is what you do, that’s uniquely carved for you by your maker. It is the only thing that can bring true fulfilment in life. When there’s an incessant feeling of restlessness, as though there’s a void or something missing in your life, then it means your purpose is calling, and it’s desperately seeking and searching for a way to find expression in your life. Let me state clearly that everyone of us is born with a unique calling and purpose to fulfil. No one is born useless. Each one of us is fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14). Therefore, being useless in life is by choice, especially when you trade your calling by doing the wrong things in life (Genesis 25:29-34). According to Rick Renner, “If you’re going to do something Mighty for God, you have to throw yourself into the call of God and do what is needed, regardless of whether or not it is convenient to you. The fact is, doing what God has called us to do must be paramount in our lives – more important than any comfort or pleasure.”
The question is: Do you know what God has called you to do here on earth? Really, if you do a thousand things but fail to do the very one thing that God has called you to do in life, you will not fulfil purpose. You see, life is not about being busy, so are the ants. The question is: What are you busy about? The ants are busy because they are gathering in summer against the winter when the weather won’t be favourable to them. Therefore, if being busy is not channelled towards fulfilling purpose, then there’s a problem. Now, does what you do add value to your calling or purpose in life? Or is it a waste of time and resources? Unfortunately, I see a number of people today who are unhappy in what they do. There’s no joy or fulfilment in their chosen vocation. They know continuing what they are doing is a waste of time, energy and resources. But they still continue doing the wrong things because they are afraid to make the right decision to move. As the saying goes, “On the plains of hesitation lies the bones of countless millions who at the dawn of decision, sat down to wait, while waiting they died.” Right now, what destiny decision to take are you postponing till tomorrow? My friend, tomorrow might be too late. Time is so short. This is the moment to jump out of that boat of being risk averse. Why? Life is too risky not to take a risk.
Friends, nobody will fulfil your purpose for you. And you cannot fulfil it in the grave. According to Dr. Myles Munroe, “The wealthiest place in the world is not the gold mines of South America or the oil fields of Iraq or Iran. They are not the diamond mines of South Africa or the banks of the world. The wealthiest place on the planet is just down the road. It is the cemetery. There lie buried companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, bestselling books that were never written, and masterpieces that were never painted. In the cemetery is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential.” Hear me, once you close your eyes in death, it’s over. Now that you’re still alive, do something about your purpose. Never forget, your purpose in life is time bound. Meaning, there’s a threshold of time for its fulfilment. And time as they say, wait for nobody. It’s a fact that none of us will remain here on earth forever. If Jesus tarries, we shall all die. No wonder the Psalmist said, “Lord, teach us to number our days that we may apply our heart unto wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). Jesus understood what the Psalmist said, and he added: “I must do the works of him that sent me while it’s day; the night comes when no man can work” (John 9:4). The time comes when the law of diminishing return set in your life, and your body begins to respond to the law of gravity. The firmness of your skin begins to drop, and what you normally do with ease becomes a struggle, then you will realise you have little or no time left, especially if you have not discovered your purpose.
Brethren, there is an urgency of time calling to fulfil our purpose here on earth. There’s no time for frivolity. What you fail to accomplish now may become a daunting task in the near future. Now that it’s your morning time, invest your energy to discover and pursue what God has destined for your life. Don’t wait till the evening time, when your strength and energy is gone. It may be too late at that point in time. Remember, your purpose cannot be manufactured or figured out by yourself. It can only be discovered from God who created you. He said in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you said the Lord; thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give you an expected end.” If you desire to live a fulfilled life, you must begin to seek the Lord’s face to reveal that “expected end” he has designed for your life, so you can start working towards it now. I hope you have been richly blessed by today’s devotion. So, “Arise, Shine; for your light has come. And the glory of the LORD is Risen upon You” (Isaiah 60:1). Hallelujah! Now, Pursue And Fulfil Your Purpose. Have a Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
