God Is Able And He Cares
Friends, greetings in Jesus Mighty Name! Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, “God Is Able And He Cares.” Let me begin by announcing to you that our God is able to do whatever He says He will do; and above all, He is a caring Father. In Genesis 18:14, The Lord God Almighty, asked Abraham: “Is anything too hard for the Lord.” At this point in time, the condition of Abraham, and his wife Sarah, was a hopeless situation. If we look at verse 11 of this same Genesis 18, the bible declares: “Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.” The word stricken is the past participle of strike. In this context, it means to be seriously affected by an undesirable condition or unpleasant circumstance. This was the pathetic state Abraham and Sarah found themselves. But did the Word of God come to pass in their lives? Oh, Yes! What God promised to them, He was able to fulfill. Sarah got pregnant at old age, and delivered Isaac when she was 90 years old.
Listen, it doesn’t matter how hopeless your situation may be at the moment. If only you can put your faith in God, he will see you through. You must learn not to focus on your problem, but focus on God. The bible declares in Matthew 8:1-3 that, “When Jesus had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, you can make me clean. Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” If you observe carefully from this scripture we just read, you will notice that when the leper came to Jesus, the first thing he did was to worship the Lord, before even presenting his case or request. Hear me, when your problem is the biggest thing in your life, that it takes away the place of worship to God, then you have signed a long-term contract to remain in that condition.
Unfortunately, many today exalt their problems more than God. When you see them, you could easily tell because their problem is written all over their faces. How do I know? It is because they lack joy. You see, you can’t fake joy. Is either you have it or not. If you are troubled, it shows and sooner, people will start asking: What is the matter with you? Apostle James wrote saying, “Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience” (James 1:2-3). Listen, there is something so powerful about joy. Nehemiah 8:10 says, “For the joy of the Lord is your strength.” When you lack joy your strength withers away. Joel 1:12 declares, “The vine has dried up, and the fig tree has withered; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree – All the trees of the field are withered; Because joy has withered away from the sons of men.” When joy leaves your life, everything about you withers. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” A merry heart is a joyful heart, while a broken spirit is a joyless heart. Unfortunately, many are joyless and sick today, because they magnify their problems more than God. Painfully, they remain there for a very long time, until they choose to have a change of heart.
Hear me friend, our God is a loving caring God. Our problems do not honour God or bring glory to Him. God wants the best for us. He’s more concerned than we’re that we should enjoy the good things of life. Let me quickly share a story with you. Recently my mind went back to when I was a little boy of about 9 or 10, growing up in the village in Delta region of Nigeria. I remembered while sleeping at night, I will hear a footstep of someone walking about, going from one room to another. You know, that can scare a little child. But when I opened my eyes, I noticed it was my dad. I saw him holding a cutlass, checking out the door locks to see if it was properly locked, then he will enter our room, go close to the window, and draw the curtain a bit to scan through the surroundings in case there’s an intruder. After a while, he would go away. He did this every night. You know what? I slept with so much confidence every night. There was this sense of security, knowing that my dad was always around, checking on me and my siblings every night. But when I grew up, left the village, moved to Lagos, left the country, and already given my life to Christ, I began to think back: What if an intruder had actually come into our house in the village with an AK47, what could my father had done with his cutlass?
Really, I just laughed: But do you know what dropped in my heart recently. If my earthly father so cared about me and my siblings with the little weapon he had; how much more my heavenly Father…your Heavenly Father! Tell me: Which AK47 or Machine gun can withstand his Majestic Power. The bible declares in Psalm 46:7 that, “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our helper”; “He neither sleeps, nor slumber” (Psalm 121:4); “For he who touches you touches the apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:8). Yes, God will defend His eyes, because you’re dear to Him. He said in Psalm 105:15, “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” Hallelujah! If God be for you who can be against you (Romans 8:31); “For greater is He that is in You than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). This is the confidence you have in Christ, knowing that no situation you could ever encounter in life should take away the joy and peace you have in Christ. I believe you have been richly blessed. Now, “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1). Dust yourself up, clean up those tears, and crush that sorrowful look that has conditioned your life. Yes, look up to God in Faith (Mark 11:22-24). Don’t give up on God! He Is Able And He Cares (1 Peters 5:7; Matthew 11:28). Hallelujah! Have a Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
