Working the Works of God for Your Life.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Working the Works of God for Your Life.” Let me start by saying that if you want to experience a creative turnaround in your life, you do not fold your hands and do nothing. As they say, “There is no free food in Freetown.” You must get your hands busy at work. The Lord said In Deuteronomy 28:12, “I will bless the works of your hand.” If you noticed, God didn’t say I will bless the folding of your hands. Really, if you fold your hands and do nothing, no blessing will come to you. Yes, miracles don’t just happen. You do your part; God will equally do His part. You see, our God is a hard worker. He’s a diligent God. It took diligence to create the earth and put together all that we see in existence today. Therefore, God expects you and I to be like Him. Jesus said, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working” (John 5:17).
Really, God cannot stand lazy people around Him (Matthew 25:26-30; Proverbs 24:30-34; 2 Thessalonians 3:10). The Almighty God does not want His children idling about, but that our hands must be engaged in productive activity that commands resources for His Kingdom. Hallelujah! Now, as much as God wants us to work, He does not want us to work anyhow dissipating our energy on things that does not count before Him. Jesus said in John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” From the above scripture, we can understand that there’s a work God has earmarked for each and every one of us. Working outside of that work will amount to exercise in futility.
Today many people find ourselves engaged in doing too many things. Unfortunately, they realize that they have little or no result for what they’re doing. Really, life becomes a rat-race – unending pursuit of success with no visible result or outcome to show for your too many toils – when you work outside of God’s jurisdiction for your life. Jesus declared in Matthew 11:2-30, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” What is Jesus telling you and I from this scripture? Stop labourig in vain. There’s a way to do it effortlessly without burning out. Listen, I know some folks doing three to four jobs to make ends meet in their lives. They toil and toil, exerting so much energy, yet with “no ends meeting” in their lives.
Hear me friend, it’s not enough to be busy. You can be busy doing nothing. Being engaged in too many activities does not equate to productivity. Long I understood that if I do too many things but fail to do the one thing that matter most in my life, then I have failed. Apostle Paul declared in Philippians 3:13, “But one thing I do.” The question is: What is that “one thing” that matters before God that you must do this year? What is that one thing that must take pre-eminence above every other activity in your life? In verse fourteen of Philippians 3, Apostle Paul went further to say, “I press toward the goal for the prize.” Listen, Paul had a goal in mind because he had identified one thing God had assigned him to do. Yes, he was laser focused on that goal. You cannot have a goal in mind when you’re distracted with too many activities going on in your life. Today the lives of so many people are in chaos. They can’t lay hand on one thing and finish it. They keep jumping around from one place to another with uncompleted projects due to lack of focus.
Listen, a life without focus is a disaster waiting to happen. Why? It’s because anything goes for such a person. He or she is unstable (James 1:5-8). Living a life of focus began for Apostle Paul when he had an encounter with Christ on his way to Damascus. You can read the entire story in Acts 9. When the Lord struck Paul, he fell from his horse as a result of the great light that shone on his face, then the Lord rebuked him by speaking audibly to him. Afterwards, it dawned on Paul that all his life, he had been engaged on fruitless activities. Immediately, Paul replied God saying, “Lord, what will you have me to do? Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do” (Acts 9:6). You see, Paul asked a very important question: Lord, “What will you have me do.” Unfortunately, this is where many of us miss it. We want to do for God what he has not asked us to do. Listen, good idea is not always God’s idea. No matter the good intention a project may appear, if it’s not God’s idea you’ll embark on a fruitless exercise. First, learn to seek God’s approval before embarking on it. Today all in the name of working for God, many have gotten their fingers burnt. May this not be your portion in Jesus Mighty Name. May you work the works of Him that sent you and finish well. Hallelujah! Have a blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
