Passion for Souls.
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Passion for Souls.” Really, this is one topic that is not too popular today in Christian circles. You rarely hear it emphasized in churches, and yet it is the heartbeat of God. God’s passion for souls is the reason why He is still extending His grace and mercy to mankind. Indeed, God does not wish that any should perish, but that all men would come to the full knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ. Ezekiel 33:11 declares, “As I live, says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live.” Hallelujah! God’s love for mankind led to His son going to the cross to die for You. And in turn, He has charged us to lead the dying world to His Son Jesus so they can be saved, not perish. Just recently, I stumbled on an article titled, “Still A Christian: When Was The Last Time You Did Any Of These?” The author enumerated seven important things beginning with “Evangelizing”. According to that writer, he said, “I laugh when I hear people say, ‘My money can be used to preach the gospel, as for me, No Time!” Listen, you may not go about globally to preach, but what about those sinners around you? Your neighbor? Your Friends? That Colleague of yours at Work Harboring Suicidal thoughts? Your Siblings and Family members who are still wallowing in rebellion against God? Hear me, as a believer in Christ, it’s a command to spread the gospel. It is not a suggestion, but a GREAT COMMISION that God has assigned us to do. The Lord said in Ezekiel 3:18, “When I say to the wicked, you shall surely die; and you give him not warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand.” The above scripture tells us how mindful God is about each soul around us.
And Jesus said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:15-18). You see, the beauty about this huge task that God has assigned us to do is that, the moment you obey and step out in faith, signs and wonders accompany you instantly (Mark 16:19-20). Hear me, God wants you the way you’re. Don’t try to be like Moses by telling God, I cannot speak (Exodus 4:10); or like Jeremiah who said to God: You know I am a child, and I cannot speak (Jeremiah 1:6). When God looks at you, He sees you from the position of strength. Please, stop giving God excuses why things cannot be done. He knows you’re capable, and that’s why he’s sending you. Really, what God is looking for is availability – obedience – not capability. Why? God cannot send you an errand without empowering you. One with God is the Majority. You cannot carry God on the inside and be incapable. By default, you’re capable. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 1:26). Hallelujah!
Listen, there’s no weakling created by God. You’re Strong not Weak (Joel 3:10). Every one of us created by God is Mighty. Yes, we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God to show forth His glory (Psalm 139:14; Isaiah 43:7). Hallelujah! God wants us to line up in obedience with him, so he can unleash his power and creative ingenuity through us. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). A lot of times many of us do not know who we are, what we carry on the inside, and what we can do with the God we serve (1 John 4:4; Romans 8:31; 1 John 4:17). Many go about in ignorance and rebellion, disregarding God’s command, and trying to make things work in their own terms. As a result, they keep struggling and toiling without fruit to show for their hard labour. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” What’s Jesus telling us here? Pursue after Kingdom Advancement – SOULS – and all these things many are laboring to achieve but never get (houses, cars, wife, husband, children, house rent, school fees, good health, promotion, just name it) will run after you. Unfortunately, many today put the cart before the horse, and things keep getting worse and difficult for them. You think God does not know you have a need for a car or rent to pay. He knows! But he equally has a need too. God does not want that neighbor or colleagues of yours at work to die and perish in hell. Listen, when you make God your topmost priority, then He makes you His priority too (1 Samuel 2:30). Remember, “He that wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30). As you go this week, talk to someone about Christ – it may be your colleague at work, friend, neighbor, or whosoever that comes across your way – and you will surely be blessed for doing so. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
