The Power of Your Mind.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today we shall continue on the series we started last week titled, “The Power of Your Mind.” We learnt last week that you cannot rise above your level of thinking. The bible said, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). Let me emphatically state that every day is intended by God to be a plus not a minus in your life. Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits.” Listen, God’s daily loads of benefits first begin in our thinking and belief system that he has the capacity to provide before it manifests into reality. Ideally, tomorrow shouldn’t meet you where you were yesterday. What will cause tomorrow to meet you on the same spot you are today is your self-limiting thought pattern. A retrogressive mindset is a minus, which only takes you backward, not forward (Jeremiah 7:24). This is the reason why you must pay attention to what goes on in your head – your mind. Writing to the brethren in Corinth, Apostle Paul said, “If our gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” A mind that is hijacked by Satan is bound to be blindfolded. You cannot think Satan’s thoughts and see the light of the day. No way!
The bible declares in Matthew 6:34, “Take no thought”. Why? There are certain thoughts that are toxic to your life. Yes, it shouldn’t be permitted. You must learn to shut down any thought that adds no value to your life. If you truly want to progress in life, you must guard your mind jealously. Why? Thoughts are Satan’s stronghold (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). But Philippians 4:8 tells us, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” From this verse of scripture, we can see that God has given us a recommended way of thinking. Remember, garbage in, garbage out. What you think and constantly meditate upon is what you get. Job said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me” (Job 3:25). The question is: What thought was Job constantly entertaining in his mind? What brought about fear in Job’s life? It was simply an “evil thought” of impending calamity upon his children which Satan dropped in his mind. As they say, F.E.A.R means False Evidence Appearing Real.
The bible declares in Job 1:5, “And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified his children, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus, did Job continually.” If you read the entire Job 1, you will observe that Job continually entertained fear in his mind over his children’s conduct. As a result, he continually offered sacrifice to God for the atonement of their sin that he presumed (Psalm 19:12-14). Unfortunately, what he feared most came upon him. Yes, it’s true that God permitted Satan to touch Job and his household (Job 1:7-12). But Satan needed an access point. Job’s continual thought of fear gave Satan the access door. The book of 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear is a torment. God has given you a sound mind backed by his love and power. Hallelujah!
Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). The question is: What kind of mind did Jesus possess while on earth? He had a mind free from fear, free from filthiness, free from evil thoughts or imaginations; Jesus had a mind that was pure and totally yielded to the will of his Father. This is the kind of mind God expects you and I to possess as followers of His Son, Jesus. Indeed, Philippians 4:8 vividly paints the mind of Christ we should all possess as believers. As a born-again child of God, I have observed over the years in my relationship with God that whenever I am faced with any given challenge, the moment I adjust my mindset from impossibility to possibility, I walk out of that challenge with ease. But when your challenge becomes the biggest thing in your life that takes over your mind, and becomes exalted than the God of all possibilities, then you will be drowned (Matthew 14:25-31).
If I may ask: Does God have control over your mind? Listen, whenever the devil takes charge of a man’s mind, you can be rest assured that there can be no peace for such a mind. A mind controlled by Satan is a terrorised mind. It’s the reason why we have too many people today who are depressed, committing or attempting suicide, while others going through rehab to get their sanity restored. In fact, the rehab centres today are cashing out big time all over the world; it is costing some nations millions of dollars to get their youths and older adults in shape, especially on issues relating to their mental health. Now, how do you take charge of your mind? It’s simple. You take charge of your mind by renewing it by the word of God (Joshua 1:8; John 8:31-32). “Let the word of God dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:15). The word of God has the power to cleanse, purge, restore, and keep you in perfect peace with your maker (Hebrew 4:12). Remember, “You have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
