Decide What You Want.
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today I will be sharing with you what I title, “Decide What You Want.” Recently, I was watching a certain preacher on TV and he said, “The Devil isn’t afraid of your desire but your decision.” Those words got me thinking, and I began to look at the trajectory of my life, and I realized that what he said is emphatically true. As a matter of fact, most successful people I have seen or read about are great decision makers and risk takers. Why? It’s because in life nothing just happens. You don’t stumble into success in life. You must work at it. Life does not give you what you want but what you make demand for. “For the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12).
To make a demand is to take action and claim what’s yours. Really, if you’re not ready to make a demand for what is rightfully yours, the devil will confiscate your goods. Never forget, the two greatest forces on earth are the will of God and the will of man. The will of God for your life is certain. Nothing can change what God has ordained or purposed for your life. In the same vein, when your will is in agreement or contrary to the will of God for your life, nothing can stop it. Yes, God can’t force you to fulfill his plan and purpose for your life when your “will” consistently come in conflict with his plan.
And the Lord said to Prophet Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons” (1 Samuel 16:1). Why was Saul rejected? It’s because his “will” refused to align with God’s “will” for his life. My question to you today is, will you decide to be in agreement of what is good and perfect will of God for your life? When the prodigal son came to his senses after squandering his fathers’ wealth and living a riotous life, then he said: “I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. The bible said, he arose and came to his father (Luke 15:11-24). Hear me, it is your decision, not wishful thinking or desires, that makes a huge difference in your life. Your desires produce nothing if no corresponding action is taken.
If the woman with the issue of blood had just remained in her desire to be healed and made no move to go touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would not have experienced her miracle. The bible declares, “Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well. Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction” (Mark 5:25-29). Hallelujah! This woman said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well”. Not only was there a desire to be healed by this woman, but a step of faith was taken by her to see her desired result. If I may ask: Do you have a desire for something? Then go past your desire, and decide to take action.
Listen, your desire to get something can be denied; but your decision to get something is unstoppable. Why? No matter how much discouragement the enemy brings on your way, it will not stop you when your mind is made up to have it. The world is full of people who are desiring or wishing to get something. In life, wishes don’t accomplish anything. You must soar beyond your wishes and decide to get what you want. Why we have too many people desiring or wishing to have something but cannot get it is because they’re not willing to pay the price to get what they want. They desire something but still remain in their comfort zone, not willing to jump out of the boat. You don’t desire to be a warrior and stay in the house. No warrior is made outside of the battlefield. So, step out and fight, then you become a champion. The bible tells us in 1 Timothy 6:12, “To Fight the good fight of faith.” Let me say this, your desire precedes decision. Meaning, there’s nothing wrong with wanting something, but when you desire, decide to take action to have what you desire.
But remember, once you decide the devil turns his attention to you. Why? Satan is afraid of those who can make decision to get what they want in life, especially where destiny fulfilment is concerned. The story of Blind Bartimaeus illustrates vividly what I am talking about. Bartimaeus heard about Jesus and the great miracles he was performing. Not only did he desire to be healed, but had already made up his mind to be healed come across his part. One day he set out for his business as usual, but heard that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by near his office space where he begs daily. Immediately, he began to cry out with a loud voice: Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me.
The bible said, Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him: Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you” (Mark 10:46-52). Hear me, Bartimaeus was not the only blind man in that same location when Jesus was passing by that day. There were plenty of them, but only him decided that his case must be different that day. You know what? He got what he desired despite the opposition that came against him. This also brings us to the fact that not everyone who was sick or desired healing during the days of Jesus got their healing. Like Blind Bartimaeus and the woman with the issue of blood, you must go past desiring, but take appropriate action to actualize what you want. Remember, “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
