Rejoice For Your Name Is Written.
There is an aspect of planning that no one likes to take into consideration. You know what it is? Death! No one wants to die, talkless of planning for it. But we will all die someday…it’s just a question of time. If Jesus tarries, whether you like it or not, you will definitely die and exit the earth. You and I can’t escape it. It’s an inevitable event that must occur one day, but the day and time we don’t know. Therefore, it becomes extremely important that no matter how much we hate or dread hearing that word “death”, we should pay attention to it, not with fear, but with a sense of reflection, that there’s life after death.
Listen, our journey in life does not end here on earth. The physical body we have is our temporary abode. Yes, our body is the “earth suit” or jacket that covers our spirit that lives forever more. Hallelujah! Therefore, death shouldn’t scare us, because we are eternal beings whose sojourn on earth is temporal. As believers, what should be paramount in our hearts is our life after death. This is why our focus must be on the things that have eternal value. Hear me, money, houses, cars, properties, prestige, just name it are all good, but none of these will follow you after death. As a matter of fact, it has little or no significance after death. Really, I have never seen anyone being buried with stacks of dollars or Rolls Royce. No dead man thinks about a house or car when they die. What really matters when you die is your eternal abode.
Remember, there are two eternal destinations after death – heaven or hell – and each individual living on the face of the earth has an eternal address at any of these destinations. In the book of Luke 10, Jesus appointed seventy disciples and sent them two by two to embark on a critical mission to go preach and spread the gospel of the kingdom to the city and places around them. Then they returned with great joy, telling Jesus how the demons were subject to them in his name, and also, how great miracles and wonders that were performed by his name. And Jesus replied saying to them, “Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). If I may ask: Is your name written in the book of life?
As believers in Christ, there are two things we must be concerned about in our lives: (1) The legacy we will leave behind when we’re gone; (2) Our eternal destination. The question is: Where would you like to spend your eternity and how would you like to be remembered after you exit on earth? Our eternal destination can only be by our choice. No one, not even the devil no matter the amount of temptations he throws at you will be held responsible for your eternal destination. Yes, it’s that serious! If I may inquire from you: Are you born again? Are you still postponing it till someday? Remember, no one knows what tomorrow holds. Some people slept last night but didn’t wake up this morning. As I write, some people have left for work today but unfortunately will be in the mortuary later today. Why? No one knows what will happen in the next one 5 minutes. Only God knows!
Jesus said in John 3:3, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Being born again is a new birth that marks a spiritual transformation and turnaround of your life from the path of death to life when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. And Jesus declared in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Listen, the decision to become born again is something you cannot do after death. It’s only relevant here on earth while you still have the opportunity to say yes to Jesus, giving Him full access and control over your life. Whether you like it or not, no one will remain here on earth forever. Even if you live over 100 years, you will still die someday. What matters is where you go afterwards, and the legacy you leave behind (Revelation 14:13). My prayer for you and I, is that our name will be written in the book of life in Jesus Mighty Name. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
