Be Strong in the Lord.

Let me start by saying that in life, the rule of power is simple and straightforward. When a lesser power comes in contact with a greater power, the lesser power has no choice but to bow to the greater power (Exodus 7:1-13). Yes, a lesser power will submit and kneel before a greater power. Why? When someone is stronger than you in a fight or combat, you know because you can feel the heat. This is why when a weak nation is in a battle or war with a stronger nation, they cry out for help. Why? They can feel the heat of the battle that’s not going in their favour. If support doesn’t come, they succumb to their enemy. The bible declares that when Jesus came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes, he encountered a madman possessed by demons. It was recorded that the man was so exceedingly fierce and untamable, such that no one could pass by the way where he dwells. But when this madman saw Jesus coming from afar, he ran towards him, knelt and worshiped Him. And he cried out with a loud voice and said: What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me (Mark 5:1-11). Yes, “The devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19). When two opposing powers meet together, the lesser power must give way. The demons operating in the life of the madman began to negotiate for their safety.
You see, power is in levels. You cannot command an enemy that is stronger than you. As a matter of fact, you will invite trouble to yourself by engaging in a battle you cannot win. There is an interesting story in the bible about the seven sons of Sceva, who having seen the miracles and wonders performed by Apostle Paul in casting out demons and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, then decided to carry out the same exercise. Now, the bible declares that these seven uninformed brothers took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying: “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches. And the evil spirit answered and said: Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? Unfortunately, you could not answer the question. Then the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified” (Acts 19:11-17). Today we have needless casualties in the body of Christ, because many engage in a spiritual battle that they do not have the strength or power to withstand.
Listen, if you’re more powerful and stronger than your enemy, you can never be intimidated. The enemy will bow and surrender before you. Hallelujah! Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:10, “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Why does the bible tell us to be strong in the Lord? It’s because there’s a strongman out there on the street. And Jesus said in Mark 3:27, “No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.” Who is the strongman here? It’s your number archenemy – the devil. You can’t command Satan if you do not have the power to do so. Jesus declares in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Beloved, as a believer in Christ Jesus you have power to command devils and they will obey (Job 22:28). Therefore, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might that is in you. Hallelujah!
Now, how do you become strong in the Lord and in the power of His might? First and foremost, the power of God is for only those in a covenant relationship with Him. “For the prayer of a sinner is an abomination unto God” (Proverbs 15:8). God does not give holy things to dogs (Matthew 7:6). You cannot access God’s power if you’re still a guest lodged in Satan’s house. You can’t serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). You must be in God’s camp to access His power. What qualifies you into God’s camp is accepting His son Jesus into your life. Once this first step is achieved, the next stage is learning how to access the power and resources that’s made available to you. Jesus said in Matthew 11:29, “Learn of Me.” Apostle Paul said in Colossians 2:6-7, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith.” As you receive Jesus into your life, there’s so much you can learn from Him to make you strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
What can you learn from the life of Jesus? You must learn to study and know the word of God (Matthews 4:1-11; Joshua 1:8, 2 Timothy 2:15, Colossians 3:16); you must live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Mark 11:22-24); you must love God and obey His commandments, for God does not bestow His power to rebels (Isaiah 1:16-20, John 5:19); you must learn to spend quality time in God’s presence and pray without ceasing so you don’t become a prey (Mark 1:35; 1 Thessalonians 5:17); you must learn to wait on the Lord in fasting. For man shall not live by bread alone (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4; Isaiah 58:5-8); above all, you must learn to war a good warfare as a soldier of the Lord (Colossians 2:15, 1 Timothy 1:18-20). David said, “Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle” (Psalm 144:1). As Jesus engaged principalities and powers, and overcame them all, we too must go out there on the street and crush the demons terrorizing our entire neighbourhood, family, health, finance, and cast them out in Jesus Name. Yes, you’ve got the Power and Authority in Jesus Name (Philippians 2:9-11). Be Bold and Fearless. Remember, “If God be for you who can be against you” (Romans 8:31). Nobody! Now, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
