Do Not Let The Devil Steal Your Intimacy with God.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Do Not Let The Devil Steal Your Intimacy with God.” The bible declares in Genesis 3:8-9, “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him: “Where are you?” Beloved, one thing that God cherished most when He created man was intimate relationship with Him. If you read the account of creation in the book of Genesis, you will see that Adam was God’s delight; He fellowshipped with him; He brought the animals before Adam to give names to them, and so on. Adam had the full authority and power to govern the earth, until he transgressed with Eve, and the intimacy was broken. Today, God is asking you and I, “Where are you?” He wants us back to Himself. Why? God knows the danger of you being outside of His presence. Staying out of God’s presence ushers in the devil to the scene. Hear me, no one drives a car continuously without refueling the tank. If you do, you will run out of fuel. Today, many believers are running on an empty tank. Why? The revelation of God’s word you had yesterday will not be enough to carry you for your entire life. God keeps speaking. Therefore, you need fresh revelation on a daily basis to survive the treacherous world we’re in today.
Listen, if you run only on the revelation of yesterday without paying attention to what God is saying today, sooner you will be running on an empty tank. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed in him, “If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). You do not know the whole truth when you’re running on a half-truth. You see, God cannot pour everything you need to know at once. Otherwise, you will be overwhelmed. But He wants you to develop stature, by having a deeper intimate fellowship with Him on a daily basis so you can know the truth. This is why Jesus said, “If you continue in my word” without break in fellowship, then you will know the truth. The revelation of God’s truth does not come to you on a platter of gold when you are half-hazard with no intimate relationship with Him. If you value God, He will value you. The Lord declares in 1 Samuel 2:30, “For those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.” You cannot gaze into what God is doing when you have no fear or regard for Him. No way! “For the secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Psalm 25:14). Now, the place of your intimacy with God, is your place of power. The devil knows it so well, and that’s why he does everything in his own power to distract and frustrate your intimacy with God.
What is Intimacy? Intimacy is the state of closeness, fellowship, communion, friendship, understanding, sharing, affection, familiarity, being and belonging together personally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This definition is a vivid picture of what intimate relationship with God should look like. God wants to be so connected with us that He does not want anything to come in between us. Why? He is a very jealous God. “For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:14). The moment Adam and Eve turned their back against God by violating their intimacy with Him, He cast them out of the garden. As a believer in Christ Jesus, you cannot stand the onslaught of the devil in the days ahead without an intimate relationship with God. Jesus declared in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” Daniel understood this basic truth about intimacy, and he stuck with God while in Babylon. The attack on Daniel in Babylon was based on his intimacy with God. Why? Satan knew that was Daniel’s Power Bank. Therefore, if he can truncate Daniel’s intimacy with God, the game will be over for him. What the enemies of Daniel didn’t realise was that God was smarter than them. So, they devised a means to shift Daniel’s attention from God, by creating another god which everyone in Babylon was compelled to worship for 30 days.
You know what? Daniel was not deterred by the consequences of defiling the decree made by the King. He knew his case would be worse if he obeyed the evil decree of the land. The bible declares in Daniel 6:10, “Now when Daniel knew that the decree was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” If you read the subsequent verses, you will observe that the adversaries of Daniel, actually hid around his house to see whether he will obey the kings’ order or not. When they saw that he defiled the order, they quickly rushed to see the king, and said to him, “O King, that Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day” (Daniel 6:13). With all the intrigues they plotted against Daniel – by threatening his life, and ultimately sending him to the Lion’s Den – Daniel prevailed and emerged triumphant in all of these things. Why? It’s because Daniel never allowed the devil to steal his intimacy with God.
Unfortunately, today, any slightest challenge in the lives of some believers in Christ, they cave in. Some believers even threaten God and give Him an ultimatum or deadline to meet certain needs in their lives, else they will turn their back against Him. Listen, you can’t threaten God. He’s not your mate. In fact, it’s for your own best interest to humble yourself before Him, and obtain mercy. Apostle James said, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:2-4). You see, the trials of life that we face are not strong enough to separate us from our intimacy with God. Like Daniel, our trials of life should draw us closer, and not separate us from God. Hallelujah! Apostle Paul asked: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: For your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35-39). It does not matter what you’re going through today, just know that God is in the midst of the fire with you (Daniel 3, Isaiah 43:1-5). Hallelujah! You’re Highly Lifted. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With Love, Elvis!
