Doing Great Things for God

Beloved, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Doing Great Things for God”. As believers in Christ Jesus, one of the great marks to fulfilling destiny in life is having an agenda centered on God’s plan and purpose for your life. Anything short on that is an exercise in futility. It is the heart of God to meet our needs even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:32-32). But that can only come when we begin to do those things that are pleasing to His heart. The Bible says in Matt. 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Sometime ago, I listened to a man give a wonderful sermon. He said he has six children who are unique in their characters. He noted that his first son will always ask for things but unwilling to carry out any given assignment as required. He goes on to say that his last daughter who is the youngest of all did something that wowed him recently.
According to him, he had returned from work, and his car was very dirty. He muttered quietly about getting the car cleaned up, but didn’t give any of his children an instruction to clean up the car. He said to his utmost surprise, he looked through the window and saw his little daughter outside cleaning the car. He felt thrilled and watched her closely – seeing how she stood on a chair in order to clean the windscreen and the roof of the car. He said immediately he began to think of what kind of gift to give to his daughter. He ended up giving her a fantastic gift. This simple but interesting story illustrates the heart of God when we attempt great things for Him. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9). Do you truly love God? Are you doing those things that are pleasing in His sight? Listen, the bible declares in 1 Chronicles 16:9 that, “The eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” What can you do for God this year that will cause heaven move on your behalf? Most times it grieves God to see the kind of request we make before Him. Our request always centers on us – me, me, me – with no heaven agenda on it.
The Lord declares in Psalm 2:8, “Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.” Beloved, it is about time to pray less about ourselves and focus more on God’s need being met. Yes, it’s about prioritizing God and putting His need first on your scale of preference. Jesus prayed, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt.6:10). God knows what you are in need of. But He desires that you pray higher prayers – for nations, for our leaders, pray for lost souls, for missionaries, pray for the sick, and reach out to orphans and widows. Yes, spend time to pray for Nigeria, especially the election around the corner. When you do, you will begin to experience unusual blessings you never ask for. If we truly know God and realize He lives in us, we wouldn’t wait until He reminds us to do certain things that demand our urgent attention. “The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32). If you want quick answers to your personal needs, make a resolve in your heart to do great things for God this year. Join hands with the host of heaven to rescue souls that are on the pathway of death. “He who wins souls is wise” (Prov.11:30). Become conscious of the doom that awaits those without Christ – and start witnessing to your colleagues at work, your neighbor, your gardener, your nanny, your cook, even your enemies. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
