Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Famous For God”. The Lord God Almighty delights in showcasing His sons and daughters before the world and to the devil. “Then the LORD said to Satan, have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil” (Job 1:8). Job was famous, wealthy, and the greatest man in his entire region during his days (Jobs 1:3). As a child of God your impact and influence on earth is meant to be felt round the globe. Like Job, our fame as God’s children is meant to extend God’s fame to the ends of the earth. Meaning, your announcement to the world is not for you, but for the extension of God’s Kingdom. Like Apostle Paul, Peter, and other disciples of Jesus, Job was not seeking for fame. But their lifestyle of consecration and dedication to the things of God announced them to the world.
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through the entire region round about” (Luke 4:14). Question: Was Jesus seeking for fame as some are seeking and dying for today? Absolutely not! Being famous came naturally to Him because He was busy going about His father’s business by preaching the gospel, healing the sick, raising the dead, and rendering service to humanity. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). As God’s children, being famous for God is not what we seek or pursue after. But it comes naturally and becomes inevitable when we stay at the centre of God’s will for our lives. Really, the centre of God’s will for our lives is “Kingdom Advancement”. Like Jesus, you cannot go about doing good, spreading the gospel, healing the sick and performing miracles, without being known for your good works.
Being famous for God is not a worldly fame that centres on self. It is a fame that promotes and advance God’s kingdom. I remember many years ago as a university student living in Johannesburg. One day I was going to church for an evening service. As I made my way out of the campus gate to connect to the street leading to my church, I met a gentleman bent down and weeping beside a traffic light. I tried ignoring him but the Lord laid in my heart to go find out what was wrong. I approached him and enquired to know his problem. He told me for 23 years he has been bent like this due to a fall he had from a tree when he was 10 years old. He lamented his ordeal as a grown 33-year-old man who cannot date or marry due to the infirmity that affected his spinal-cord. I told him sorry and was about leaving him when the lord asked me: Is saying “sorry” all you have to offer him? Then I turned to the man and asked if he believe in the name of Jesus. He said yes! I asked him again, do you believe Jesus can heal you? He said yes! Finally, I asked him: Would you like if I pray for you? He said yes! Then I laid my hand on his waist line and began to pray. Before I could finish, I heard a noise like a thunder bolt on his waist, and this gentleman stood upright and grabbed me so tight. He began to shout, I am healed; I can feel it; Jesus has healed me. He began to jump and summersault on the street, and people were watching the drama going on.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord telling me, why not preach and declare my words to these onlookers. Immediately, I began to preach and led over 15 people to Christ on the street. What happened? Jesus became famous through me as I yielded myself as a vessel for His Kingdom Advancement. Hallelujah! As God’s children, we cannot avoid being famous for God when we shine as light in the midst of darkness. The bible declares in Matt.5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” When we are famous for God, we bring glory to His name and draw men to Him. For we are created to do exploits and to reign in life (Rom. 5:17). “For they that do know their God shall be strong and will do exploits” (Daniel 11:32). Remember, the world awaits your manifestation (Romans 8:19). Therefore, Go, Shine, Rule, Reign, and be Famous for God in Jesus Mighty Name! Have a Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
