For God to Act You Must Act.

In my physics class at secondary school, my teacher taught us the Newton Third Law of Motion which states that, “For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction.” The interpretation of this law is simple. Whenever objects A and B interact with each other, they exert forces upon each other. These forces exerted by these two objects are called action and re-action forces. The action of object B is dependent upon the action taken by object A. In other words, until object A acts, object B will not re-act. While at the back of desert tending the flock of Jethro, his father in-law, Moses saw a bush burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. He was startled by what he saw. Unknown to him, God was at the scene watching to see the action that he would take. The Bible declares in Exodus 3:3-4, “Then Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn. So, when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said: Moses, Moses. And he said: Here I am.” Really, if Moses had walked away from that scene, God could have as well turned away from him with the hope of another opportunity to get his attention. Yes, this is how so many of us keep missing or postponing our day of visitation and encounter with the Lord.
Ladies and gentlemen, hear me clearly. For God to act in certain situations of your life, you must first act. In life, miracles don’t just happen. You do what instigates a miracle in your life. Don’t sit back waiting without taking a bold step towards your miracle. In his book tilted, Miracles Don’t Just Happen, author Dr. Lester Sumrall said, “Miracles do not make up for our laziness or unwillingness to do what is expected of us.” You must do what is expected of you that will prompt a miracle in your life. If all that you need to do for a miracle to happen in your life is to scream at the top of your voice like Blind Bartimaeus, you better do so, otherwise you will miss your miracle (Mark 10:46-52); If all that you need to do for your miracle to happen is to defy the rule of engagement and crawl in the midst of the crowd to touch the hem of Jesus garment like the woman with the issue of blood, you better hurry and do so (Luke 8:43-48); If all that you need to do for your breakthrough to happen is to act like Esther who said, “if I perish I perish”, you better do so and get your miracle (Esther 4:1-16). Listen, all the aforementioned acted before God acted on their behalf. There’s a part you must play for your miracle to play out into reality.
I hear some people say, if God truly loves the world, why are there too many crimes, wickedness, people plagued by various kinds of diseases, while others are enmeshed in intense hardship and dying of starvation? I often tell such folks that God is not moved by emotions. You see, God has feelings and emotion but that’s not what attracts Him to us. Of course, He’s a God of mercy and compassion. The Lord declares in Romans 9:15, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” Yes, He reserves His prerogative to do so as He wills (John 5:1-9). But your faith in God causes Him to arise and act on your behalf. The cry of faith cannot be denied. “For without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews11:6). The phrase “Impossible to please Him” in this context means, impossible to cause God to act or move. God didn’t design mankind to suffer. Poverty, sickness and disease does not bring glory to Him. God has a standard of engagement. If we’re not in alignment with Him by faith, it will be impossible for Him to act on our behalf. What is Faith? Faith is having explicit trust and hope in God for who He is, believing He will do what He says He will do without breaking His word or promise.
In four consecutive times in the entire bible, the Lord said “For the just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4, Hebrews 10:38, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11). Hebrews 10:38 puts it this way, “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” Who are the just? The ones with right standing with God. Remember, true faith is action oriented. You don’t claim to have faith and do not take action to do something. “For faith without works is dead” (James 2:6). For instance, if you believe by faith that God is going to prosper your business with a million dollars before the end of this year, then go to the marketplace and showcase your goods and services to the customers, and God will do the rest. True faith is a catalyst. It causes you to go out of your comfort zone like the woman with the issue of blood. Jesus declared in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” If you truly want Jesus to offload that heavy burden on your life today, simply obey that simple command “Come”, otherwise the load will remain until you’re ready.
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Indeed, until you draw near, nothing happens. Salvation is a free gift, but you must say “yes” to Jesus before He can come into your life. Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Jesus will not interfere in your life unless you permit Him to do so. He’s not a thief like Satan who forces his way into people’s lives without permission. Beloved, God Almighty is looking for willing vessels – men and women – who will act swiftly on His commands so that His kingdom will be established on the earth through them. So, when God says to you “Come”, just know He is waiting for you to act so He can re-act on your action. Remember, the book of the Acts of Apostles was written because the people Acted. As they acted upon God’s command, signs, miracles, and wonders began to follow them (Acts 4:29-31; Mark 16:17-20)). Don’t sit back, take action on God’s word, and He will respond to you accordingly. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
