God is Not Moved by Emotion.
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “God is Not Moved by Emotion.” Beloved, let me state categorically that our God is not moved by emotions and you can’t blackmail Him by your emotions. Yes, God has emotion – He is compassionate, kind, and loving – but He’s a God that is moved by faith. The bible declares in Mark 2:5, “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic: Son, your sins are forgiven you.” When you read further in this scripture, you will see that the man was healed instantly (verses 11-12). From the story, you will observe that what aroused Jesus’ compassion to heal and deliver this man was the faith displayed on the scene, and not the emotion. Listen, if it is emotion that moves God, the whole world would have become a better place today. Why? Today, nations are running high on emotions. They’re in a pitiable state, crying and wailing – seeking sympathy and help from world bank, IMF, World Central Kitchen, and those who care to help or can rescue them – from their pathetic state of emotional distress and need. Unfortunately, things keep getting worse and worse for them. It appears that the more they cry and wail, the more their pain and misery continues. Just take a look and see what’s going on in Gaza, Ukraine, even here in Nigeria where we have seen many crying and wailing, saying to the government, “Ebi n pa wa” (We’re hungry), yet the hunger is intensified without them getting filled. Why? It’s not by wailing and crying.
During this past weekend, I was so challenged by one of the ministers in my church who shared a story of God’s faithfulness, deliverance, and mercy towards her by meeting her desperate financial need. Really, it was far beyond her imagination. According to her, she urgently needed about a million naira to sort out her children’s school fees. At this time, her kids will be sent out of school if payment wasn’t made. She had nothing in her bank account, talkless of raising a million naira. All the people she ran to for help turned her down. Like some believers would do today, she could have started wailing, become moody, depressed, or even compromised her faith in God. But she rolled up her sleeves, and pressed into God in prayers, and began to hold on to God’s promises in His word. You know what? God came down to her aid. While still in her three-day prayer closet, a credit alert of one million naira hit her bank account from a source she never expected. She called the person, a brother, who said to her that he just felt like being a blessing to her with that amount. The story didn’t end there. She got more credit alerts than she never bargained for, simply by standing on God’s word by faith. Listen, your faith in God can never be denied. Why? God is to faithful to fail. The bible tells us about the heroes of faith who stopped the mouth of lions through faith (Hebrews 11:32-35). You do not stop the mouth of a lion before you by wailing and crying, otherwise you become a meal. Today many have become meal to the devil due to lack of faith.
So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24). Ladies and gentlemen, may I announce to you that it’s your faith – not your emotion – that brings God to the scene. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” You don’t come before God just by shedding tears, without having the faith and belief that he can help or deliver you from your trouble. Yes, it’s okay to cry at times. After all, David cried when the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, destroyed his properties, and took his wives and children as captives. But the bible said that David encouraged himself in the Lord. He refused to remain in the pathetic state of weeping and emotional distress. No! David jacked up his faith, and He enquired of the Lord to know what next to do. And the Lord replied to him: Pursue, overtake, and recover all that the devil has stolen from you (1 Samuel 30). Hallelujah! The Lord admonishes us four consecutive times in the bible saying, “The just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4; Hebrews 10:38; Romans 1:17; and Galatians 3:11). Hebrews 10:38 puts it this way, “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
Beloved, you have a mountain moving faith to bulldoze any obstacle that comes your way (Mark 10:46-52). Hallelujah! Jesus asked a question in Luke 18:8 saying, “When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” He didn’t say: Will I really find people weeping and wailing so I could help and deliver. Listen, it will interest you to know that during the time Jesus was here on earth, not everyone who had needs got their needs met, even though they were around Jesus. In Luke 8:45-46, “Jesus said: Who touched Me? When all denied it, Peter and those with him said: Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say: Who touched Me? But Jesus said: Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” Hear me, many touched Jesus but he didn’t feel their touch. It was the touch of faith by the woman with the issue of blood that He felt. While others were touching him in doubt and unbelief, the woman came from behind: “For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague” (Mark 5:28-29). Yes, this is the kind of touch Jesus is looking for today. Can you touch him today by your faith? Remember, there is nothing impossible to him who believes (Luke 1:37; Matthew 17:20). Have Faith in God. Hallelujah! You’re Blessed. Have a Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
