Growing Up Spiritually

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Growing Up Spiritually”. Let me begin by saying that, as a believer your growth spiritually is not an option, but a must if you’re to make a difference. There has never been a time when the need to grow up spiritually is as important as at now. Why? If you are not growing you are dying. This may sound harsh, but it’s the reality. No parents will be happy to see their child not growing up physically, especially when all provisions for food and other material needs have been made. It is the joy of any mother to see that at the time a child is supposed to crawl, stand, walk, run, and talk, that child fulfils everything. It becomes a serious concern to parents when the child lags behind in growth.
I watched a documentary on the world’s shortest human being. Having looked at the person, it was a pathetic sight. She is probably about 25 years of age at the time, but as small as a two-year-old baby. I saw the pain in her mother’s face when being interviewed by a journalist. While trying to figure out what could have gone wrong, the Lord said to me: “Do you know this is how many of my children look spiritually. Just as the mother of this girl grieves over her daughter, so it grieves my heart over so many of my children. I have made all provisions for their growth, with all the balanced diet they need, but they choose otherwise.”
Little wonder we have so many spiritually immature Christians today? For instance, does it not give some level of concern when Christians argue over whether or not a secular musician or comedian should come to perform in churches. Aren’t we supposed to have one voice on things pertaining to godliness? As Christians why should we have divergence views on Christian’s moral standards and values? The answers should be right before us. This is the hour to grow and sharpen our spiritual antenna to be able to differentiate between the good and the evil. How then can we grow? Just as we eat physical food to grow in the natural, so we should feed on God’s word to grow spiritually. “For man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Deut. 8:3). The word of God is the key to our spiritual growth. “As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby” (1 Pet.2:2).
Today, because many are not growing up spiritually, false teachers and prophets have taken advantage of them due to their ignorance. If you go to some churches today, you will be amazed to see the horror and exploitation going on there. Why? It’s because God has been replaced by men, and the deluded flocks receive whatever lies they hear from the pulpit without questioning. A video clip I watched this past weekend about things happening in some churches could cause your heart to pant if you’re a true believer. “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). Listen friend, we do ourselves a great harm when we do not feed on God’s word that will cause us to grow, and to know the truth. Remember, the days are evil. Don’t be deceived. Have a blessed and fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
