Have Faith in God

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Have Faith in God”. You see, the subject of faith cannot be over-emphasized. The life of faith for a Christian is not a suggestion or recommendation. No! It is a command. The bible declares four times, “For the just shall live by faith” (Rom.1:17, Galatians 3:11, Habakkuk 2:4, Hebrews 10:38). Who are the “Just”? The Just are believers who have received Christ into their lives. They have right standing with God. Now, being “justified” in Christ Jesus, the only way you can maintain sound relationship with God is the Faith-Way. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Heb.11:6). As believers, we are not immune to the storms of life. The Lord knows the storms of life that we are going to face, and He gave a command that we should live by faith. Why? Faith is the currency of the spirit that God responds to. For with it, you wage a good warfare against the onslaughts of the devil. Ephesians 6:16 says, “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” A believer without faith in God is naked to the arrows of the enemy. So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24).
Faith in God is not only your defence against the attack of the evil one, but your weapon of war to advance, conquer territories, issue decrees and achieve enviable results in Life. While speaking to His disciples, Jesus declared: “In this world you shall have tribulation” (John 16:33). And Isaiah 43:2 says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you”. If you observe closely, the above scripture didn’t say “if you pass through” but “when you pass through”. Meaning, the storms of life must surely come your way. It’s just a matter of when. But you must be prepared. Interestingly, what guarantees your victory over the storms of life is your level of faith. No wonder James 1:2-3 tells us to, “Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” Hallelujah! Listen, your faith in God brings God to the scene of every situation you encounter in life. Hebrews 10:38 declares, “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” What denies many people of God’s backing in their lives is when they operate in Fear instead of Faith. Never forget, Faith is to God as Fear is to the Devil.
Yes, faith attracts God’s help. When you fear, you operate in doubt and unbelief. For fear is the opposite of faith. For this reason, the Lord admonishes us to, “Fear Not” (Isaiah 41:10). Check many instances where people had an encounter with Jesus, and you will notice His response to them was usually, “Your faith has made thee whole” (Luke 17:19, Mark 5:34). It is the cry of faith that draws heaven’s attention. While many were pushing, touching and thronging Him, Jesus stopped, and asked: Who touched me? His disciples were surprised by His question, because there was an uncontrollable crowd pressing at Him. But the woman with the issue of blood knew what had happened. She has radically made up her mind in faith, that touching Jesus garment would bring an end to her infirmity. Her decision paid off because faith in God can never be denied (Mark 5:25-34). Remember, not all touch is a touch. There is a touch of faith. That is the touch Jesus felt. Many were touching in fear, Jesus didn’t feel their touch. Sometimes why it seems God is far away from many today is that when He looks down from heaven, what He sees is fear – doubt and unbelief – not faith.
And you know God cannot respond to fear, doubt, and unbelief (James 1:5-8). “If you have faith and do not doubt, you shall do wonders” (Matt.21:21); “For I have not given you the spirit of fear”, says the Lord (2 Tim.1:7). Hebrews 10:38 declares, “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” Remember, when you draw back into fear – doubt and unbelief – God has no pleasure in you. That is why you see many weeping and crying today but their situation seems to get worse. Why? Their weeping and crying do not translate to Faith. David wept, but his weeping did not draw him into fear. He encouraged himself in the Lord, and God came into the scene to deliver his enemy into his hands (1 Samuel 30). What separates victors and victims is their propensity towards faith, not fear. “So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22). How does faith come? “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom.10:17). The word of God is the key to developing and growing your faith (Joshua 1:8). So stay in the word and get fortified by it. It doesn’t matter what is going on around you – be it business challenge, lack, unemployment, sickness, etc. – if only you can respond in faith you shall overcome all these things. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
