If You Want A Change, Make A Change

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “If You Want A Change, Make A Change”. You and I did not have a choice over the type of family we were born – rich or poor. But we have a choice to make over what we become in life. Meaning, if I am born into a poor family, it shouldn’t be the reason why I should stay or remain poor for life. Why? There are those born in abject poverty but today are very rich. Equally, there are those raised in a modest and rich background but turn out poor and beggars. That’s to say, it is not so much of where you were born but what you choose to become in life, even in the face of adversity. In life, nothing just happens. If you do not like where you are right now, shedding tears, whining, complaining, and murmuring cannot change the situation. What changes the situation is your faith in God (Mark 11:22-23), the belief and the mentality that you can (Phil. 4:13) and taking appropriate action (James 2:17). Mark the word “Action”. It is the key to moving forward. You cannot make a change without taking action. And Now is the Time! Hallelujah!
The bible declares from the book of 2 Kings 7:3-5, “Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die? If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die.” And they rose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there.” Listen, time will not permit me to share the entire story of this scripture. To paraphrase the story, there was a severe famine in the land, such that people were dying of hunger while some others were boiling and eating their children. Now these four lepers were at the gate of the city. But they made a decision to move, rather than dying of hunger at the gate. You know what, their decision paid off. The bible says, “When these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and ate and drank, and carried from it silver and gold and clothing, and went and hid them; then they came back and entered another tent, and carried some from there also, and went and hid it” (2 Kings 7:8). They got more than what they bargained for, when they arrived at their enemy’s Camp, for the Lord had chased the Syrian Army away.
President Barack Obama said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Listen, to change the ugly circumstance facing you, you must learn to change your position. Do not wait for anyone. Progress is never made when you are stuck in one spot. Changing your position requires taking action. Like Newton’s First Law of Motion states, “Every object assumes a position of rest until a force is applied to it.” In other words, when a force is applied to a stationed vehicle, it has no choice but to move. When that happens, it changes its location. Now, applying this law to your life, it means that things will remain the way they are until you do something. Therefore, for things to happen you must take the initiative, and the grace of God will follow. Yes, the grace of God does not work in a vacuum. The bible says, “Faith without work is dead (James 2:14-17). The grace of God must find something you’re doing in order to find expression through you. Listen, you cannot say you’re believing God by faith for a miracle job, yet your CV is not being submitted to any company, and you have no relationship with anyone that can be of help. Of course, you will wait forever for that job to no avail. You see, life is a daring adventure. And it takes those who are daring to make things happen. The Almighty God has put within you all that it will take to succeed in life. By creation your gene is immune to failure. Meaning, zero tolerance to failure and backwardness. Even if you are crippled, that isn’t an excuse not to make it in life.
Born without hands, Mr. John Foppe, knew what it was to suffer loneliness and emotional trauma for not being able to help himself but relying on others to do things for him. But one day, he cried out to God, and God gave him an idea. Then he made up his mind that if he will ever succeed in life, no one but him can do it (Philippians 4:13). Immediately, he began to use his two legs to do what his two hands could have done for him. With his legs, he holds a pen and writes, takes up a cup and pours water to drink, cooks for himself, drives his car, puts on his clothes, and does whatever imaginable you can do with your hands. Today, he is a world-renowned motivational speaker and consultant with over 40 employees working for his organization. He is rich, comfortable, and married with children. He wrote a book, “What’s your Excuse”. Listen, it is only you that can stop you. Your biggest enemy is you. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Remember, change begins with you, and it starts now as you begin to take bold steps that’s ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23). Hallelujah! Happy New Month in Advance. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
