Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled.
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled.” In recent times, many hearts are going through heart aches because their hearts are troubled. Indeed, many are discouraged and disappointed because their prayers appear unanswered, and all they see is their biggest fears coming into reality. Job said, “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me” (Job 3:25). Today, many are like Job, and as a result they are wondering if God is still there to save and deliver. Really, there’s nothing painful as “seeing happening what you don’t want to see happen”. This is the dilemma many have found themselves, especially here in Nigeria. As a matter of fact, many are bewildered, and in their confused state, they’re questioning God’s existence. Well, “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God” (Psalm 14:1). Ladies and gentlemen, let me announce to you that God exists. He rules in the affairs of men. “He sets up kings and removes kings” (Daniel 2:21). Nothing takes God by surprise. There’s nothing going on in your life or in our nation that God is not aware of. Satan cannot take God unawares, and darkness can never conquer light. God will only permit the devil, and it’s for a short time. I want to declare to you this day to cheer up, and never be discouraged. Despair and discouragement are for those who have no hope.
The danger is, the moment discouragement set into a man’s life, he lacks the courage to carry on. Yes, once he can no longer move, he gets stuck. This is what the devil wants. He wants you to get stuck, no movement, bound in chains, and kept in prison of forgetfulness where you amount to nothing. He achieves this when you give him attention. The moment you have an open communication channel or discussion with the devil, he takes over your mind. Like I usually tell those who care to hear: Whosoever that owns your mind owns your life. Yes, whosoever you pay heed and obey, controls your life. The question is: Who do you pay heed to? Whose voice is louder in your hearing? God’s voice or the voice of a stranger? While encouraging the brethren in Thessalonian church, Apostle Paul said to them, “I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope” (1 Thessalonians 4:13). The bible declares in Matthew 13:25, “But while men slept, the enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.” When you fall asleep at the time you should be awake, the enemy will sow discouragement into your life. The enemy is always looking for an opportune moment to sow evil seed into our lives, but we’re advised never to give him such an opportunity. The book of 2 Corinthians 2:11 advised, “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” You cannot afford to be ignorant of the devices of the devil in this hour.
As believers, we must understand that the biggest tool of the devil is to get us discouraged and cause our hearts to faint. But in all these things, Jesus declared, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1). What is Jesus saying to us here? Have absolute faith in God (Mark 11:11-24). In other words, put your trust and hope in God. There’s no assurance other than believing in the word of God. You see, the world system says to us, “Do not put all your eggs in one basket.” Meaning, do not put all your hope in one place. Well, this is not true with God. If you’re to succeed with God, all your eggs must be in His basket. He must have total control of your life. You can’t afford to have one leg with God and the other with the devil. He wants you completely to himself. Why? He is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14). He cannot share with anybody. Therefore, you must have absolute trust in Him. Meaning, follow God foolishly as He directs, with a reckless abandonment of your life in His hands. In that way, He becomes the number one priority in your life such that what you hear Him say you do without questioning.
Never forget, the word of God that you hear, believe, and act upon establishes you. The book of 2 Chronicles 20:20 declares, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established.” What does it mean to be established by God? It means to become unmovable and unshakable in the face of trouble or surrounding circumstance because the Lord is your confidence. Hebrews 10:35 says, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence in the Lord, which has great reward.” Being confident in God comes by feeding on His word. In the midst of his numerous afflictions that befell him, Job was confident to say, “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food” (Job 23:12). Why? Job tuned his ears to the frequency of God’s voice; and God’s word became a treasure unto him. “For your word, O Lord, is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). Mr. Job did not only hear and receive God’s word, but he also acted on it, and became established by God’s word. All that Job lost God restored a double portion to him. Really, very few today will survive what Job went through if they allow their challenges or problems of life to gain an upper hand. Remember, irrespective of what you see going on, let not your heart be troubled. God is not dead, He is alive, working behind the scenes. Just keep an attitude of praise and thanksgiving (1 Thessalonians 5:18). He will show up at the time you least expect. Happy Democracy Day to Nigeria. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
