Making God’s Word Your Topmost Priority

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Making God’s Word Your Topmost Priority.” Brethren, as believers in Christ Jesus, the totality of our being is dependent upon living and standing on God’s word. There is no other way to live a victorious life as a Christian without the word. This past weekend, the Lord was dealing with me about the efficacy of His Word, and why I should make it a top priority in my life. Psalm 119:160 declares, “The entirety of Your word is truth.” Why? It is because God can never lie. Number 23:19 says, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 3:4 saying, “Let God be true but every man a liar.” And the Lord tells us in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” No wonder Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
You see, when God wants to heal, deliver, set-free, enthrone, and prosper a man or a nation, he sends his word, but it behooves us to latch on to that word. God will do his part to send the word, but it’s our responsibility to receive and run with it. I pray in the Mighty Name of Jesus, that the Lord will grant you and I, the enabling grace to lay hold on his word, that as we make it our top priority, nothing else will take the place of his word in our lives in Jesus Mighty Name. Listen, one rhema word from God that you latch on to and run with, and hold dearly to your heart without letting go, will eternally change your life. And one lie from the devil, that you entertain and hold on to your heart as against the truth of God’s word, will keep you in a place of bondage without progress. This is the more reason why we should pay close attention to the source of the word we receive. Is it God’s word or word from the devil. Yes, the devil speaks. In Matthew 4:3-4, the devil came to tempt Jesus, and said: “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. But Jesus answered him and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
If you observed, Jesus was able to recognize the voice of who was speaking to him. He knew that was not words from God telling to turn stone into bread. Immediately, he refuted it. If you read the subsequent verses, you will discover that the devil continued to speak his words, but Jesus shut it down by saying, “It is WRITTEN.” And the scripture recorded in Matthew 4:11 that, “The devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.” Hear me, as long as you entertain a discussion with the devil like Eve did, without pushing him off as Jesus did, sooner you will begin to carry out his bidding, and he will make his abode in your life as your landlord. Remember, Ephesians 4:27 says, “Give no place to the devil.” Why? He will take advantage over you if you’re ignorant of his devices (2 Cor. 2:11). David made a profound statement in Psalm 119:65, “You have dealt well with Your servant, O LORD, according to Your word.” Meaning, David understood the power of making God’s word a topmost priority, and in turn, he was well nourished and blessed by it.
Speaking about Psalm 119:65, Bob Hoekstra, a notable teacher and writer, said: The phrase “According to Your word” as David wrote has two implications: First, living in line with God’s word, and living by the provisions of God’s word. Really, you can’t live by the provisions of God’s word if it’s not a priority in your life. Those who live according to God’s word not only find direction for their lives, they also find and enjoy God’s provision for their lives. Proverbs 4:20 declares, “My son pay attention to my words, incline your ears to my saying.” Why? Because there are many words and voices out there speaking to get our attention. But in the midst of these voices and words flying around, the Lord is commanding us to “Pay attention to his word.” Psalm 119:130 declares, “The entrance of God’s words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” My prayer for you today is that as you make God’s word a topmost priority, it will bring understanding, illumination, clear direction, and provision to your life in Jesus Mighty Name. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
