Only Believe
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Only Believe”. One major thing that has kept many away, especially the believers in Christ, from entering into God’s rest is unbelief. In Mark 9, the bible tells us about a man who brought his son to Jesus that was deaf and dumb. Then he said to Jesus, I approached your disciples and asked them to cast the evil spirit out of my son but they could not. Then Jesus rebuked the disciples for their lack of faith, and then told the man to bring his son to him. Now, Jesus asked the father a very important question: “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us. Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:21-24). Beloved, my prayer for you today is that, you will not self-destruct as a result of unbelief.
What is unbelief? According to Webster dictionary, it means incredulity or skepticism especially in matters of religious faith. In a nutshell, unbelief is simply absence of faith. On the other hand, to believe is to have faith in God. “So, Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24). Hallelujah! From the above scripture, we can see that anything is possible when we have faith in God’s ability to do a thing. As Jesus rightly puts it, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23). Hear me, we’re in the days of God’s Power. Jesus said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” This wonder working power is only accessible to those who believe in God’s ability and capacity to make a difference in their world. This is not the hour to draw back into unbelief (Hebrews 10:38-39). The bible declares in Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.”
If you observed from the above scripture, those who operate in unbelief are grouped among those that will have their place in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone. Listen, I don’t want to be part of that group. I am a believer, not an unbeliever. Yes, as I believe there shall be a performance of every word that the Lord has spoken concerning my life. This shall also be your portion in Jesus Mighty Name. As I said last week, we’re in our Kairos season. A season and time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of all that the Lord is set to do in your life. This is your opportune moment. You’re unstoppable at this hour. In church yesterday, my Pastor declared that in this last three months of 2022, that we shall be Sorted, Settled, and Loaded. Meaning, God will so elevate you and I, such that those around us will be filled with wonder and amazement at what the Lord has done (Acts 3:1-10). But wait a minute. For God to perform what he has spoken concerning your life, you must believe, and not doubt his word. God promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey. Unfortunately, not all made it to the promise land. Why? Unbelief! Many died on the way (Hebrews 3:12-19).
In Luke chapter one, Angel Gabriel visited Mary and told her that she will conceive and bear a son, and the name shall be called Jesus. Mary was startled and confused because she was a virgin, and have not met a man. Then she asked: How would this thing be? And the Angel comforted her by letting her know that the Holy Spirit will come upon her, and the power of the highest will overshadow her. Then Mary replied saying, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38). If you noticed, Mary believed, and never doubted. What God said to her came to pass. “For blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord” (Luke 1:45). When the news of his daughter’s death came to him, Jesus said to Jairus, a ruler of the Synagogue, whose daughter has just died, “Do not be afraid; Only believe” (Mark 5:36). Jesus knew the paralysing force of fear, and never permitted it to happen to Jairus. You know what? Jairus daughter came back to life. Beloved, I don’t know where you’re standing at this hour. But the Lord has commanded me to tell you this day, “Only Believe”. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
