Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Prayer That Gets Result”. One of the greatest tragedies in church today is to see many believers screaming to the roof top in prayers but no visible result to show for their long hours of prayers. Matthew 7:7 declares, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Listen, the way and manner in which we ask, seek, and knock determines the outcome of our prayers – either answered or not. I remember the Lord asking me: “Do you believe I will do whatever you ask in prayer? I said yes! Then He said, stop repeating to me same prayer request over and over again. I am not deaf! If you truly believed what you have prayed, all you need to do is to give thanks with an expectation to receive.”

At a time in my life, I realized I wasn’t praying with an expectation. It wasn’t as though I was not praying purposely but I wasn’t praying with the assurance of an answer in view. You see, so many of us pray without being sure of getting an answer, and thus our prayers become an exercise in futility. God wants us to pray with an expectation to receive and get the desired result we want. As a child of God you have to keep track of your requests before God and consciously expect an answer. And if there seem to be some delays to your prayer, you can go before God to know why. Is there a sin or something hindering my prayer? You have to find out. Recently, my prayer pattern has changed from unintentional to real intentional prayer with an expectation to receive. And as the Lord answers my prayers I rejoice before Him with thanksgiving.

Therefore, your attitude towards prayer needs to change from low expectation to high expectation of receiving. You need to really start praying to get result. It is God’s desire to answer us when we pray. But our attitude towards prayer has kept us from receiving. James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss”. Each time we ask amiss in prayer, we hinder ourselves from receiving from God. One of the good ingredients of asking right and not amiss is to ask with the right motive. And when the right motive meets with an expectation to receive, your prayer is bound to be answered. Just know that your expectation matters so much before God. He watches to see it when you pray. The psalmist said, “And now, Lord, what do I wait for and expect? My hope and expectation are in you” (Psalm 39:9).

In many instances, you will notice that when Jesus met someone in dire need or situation (say blindness), he would ask: What will you have me do for you? Jesus knew what they needed, but wanted to test their expectation (or faith) to receive. The woman with the issue of blood had a great expectation in her heart. “For she said within herself, if I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole” (Matt. 9:21). Her expectation, backed by faith in God, gave her the miracle that she needed. Proverbs 23:18 says, “For surely there is an end; and your expectation shall not be cut off.” Meaning, when you desire anything from God and pray with an expectation to receive, you cannot be denied, just like the woman with the issue of blood.
