Prerequisites for Divine Promotion (Part 2)

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, we shall continue on the series we began last week titled, “Prerequisites for Divine Promotion”. We learned that “Divine Promotion” simply means, supernatural lifting or elevation orchestrated by God. “Prerequisite” on the other hand means, a thing that is required as a prior condition for something else to happen or exist. I believe some of us who passed through the four walls of the University will understand what I am talking about. There are courses that have prerequisites. Meaning, until you successfully complete such a course, you cannot move or admitted to the next class. For instance, if you’re a science student, you cannot register for Maths 201 if you have not successfully completed Maths 101. You see, miracles don’t just happen in life. You do things to make miracles a reality in your life. No matter how much you pray, if you have not done Maths 101, you cannot register for Maths 201. Yes, it doesn’t matter if your father or uncle is the VC of the University. Why? There are certain principles you don’t bypass in life. Now, the same principle is applicable to the things of God. In your walk with God, there certain things you do that usher you into Greatness. Ignoring such things keep you in one spot, without any visible proof of God’s hand upon your life.
Last week we began to examine some of those things. One of such prerequisites we examined last week for Divine Promotion was: Seeking first the kingdom of God. Some believers in Christ wants to see the raw power of God displayed through their lives, like God did through Daniel and other great men of God. Unfortunately, such power will not be evident or manifest through you when you’re docile doing nothing about the Kingdom Business. Jesus said to his disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:15-18). The book of Acts 1:8 says, “You shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you.” You and I did not receive the Holy Spirit to sit down. No! You don’t acquire a car to park it permanently in the garage while you keep trekking bare-footed all through life. The Holy Spirit is a “Mover” not “Stationary”. The bible declares, “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light.” If the spirit of God in you is not moving for Kingdom Advancement, then you have to examine the kind of spirit you have received.
The second prerequisite for divine promotion is obedience. What is obedience? According to the dictionary definition, Obedience simply means, “Compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another’s authority.” Someone may ask: Why is obedience to God important? It is because God knows we cannot survive by living a life of rebellion. When God says “obey and live” – we can equally deduce the opposite – “disobey and die”. The Lord said in Deut.30:19, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” Choosing life means to obey God. You see, one of the greatest problems of man with God has always been man’s incessant lifestyle of disobedience to God’s commands. It all began in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3). Man wants to do the opposite of what God demands. And in so doing, he keeps falling short of God’s glory, thereby going backward instead of forward (Jeremiah 7:24). Beloved, each time we hearken to the voice of God and do what is pleasing in His sight, we get elevated. This is where King Saul failed woefully, and David was exalted to replace him (1 Samuel 16:1). “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken” (Isaiah 1:19-20). Disobedience to God robs one of divine promotion, and the good things of life. Job 36:11 says, “If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. We will continue from here next week. Till then, have a blessed, fulfilled, and fantastic week in Jesus Mighty Name. With love, Elvis!
