Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Setting Yourself Up for God’s Touch”. How desperate are you to attract God’s attention to your life and situation? You know what? God watches our desire and attitude towards receiving from him. Like any other father, He is inclined to his children who always come around Him, desiring to receive one thing or the other in line with his will for their lives. There are sons and daughters of God who will not make any move to approach God. They think it is God’s responsibility to just know and supply their needs without them desiring to receive or opening their mouth to ask of Him. Really, God does not work or operate that way. Yes, “the Lord shall supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). But He still expect to see our earnest desire to receive so He can supply all our needs. The Lord declared in Psalm 2:8, “Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.” Listen, nations will not beckon on you when you do not hunger or desire to possess them. What you desire you attract. “For the Lord shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). Yes, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:9). If I may ask: What do you thirst and hunger after?

Each time Jesus encountered people with cases of blindness, leprosy, or any other ailment, He usually asked them: “What would you have me do for you” (Mark 10:51). He knows you are blind, and you need sight. But He wants you to express your heart desire of what you want from him. God may on His volition decide to bless you without you asking. Really, you can’t question God. This is usually subject to His discretion. The Lord said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion” (Romans 9:15). We saw this when the Lord blessed Solomon and gave him those things he didn’t ask for. Like Matthew 6:33 rightly noted, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and every other thing shall be added unto you”. Here we see God coming to unleash His blessings to you as you do those things that pleases Him. But on a standard rule, the bible says, “Ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you”. Meaning, if you do not ask, seek, and knock, then do not expect to receive. As a child of God, you should put yourself in a position to attract God’s attention to your life. There are quite a number of incidences in the bible where some people positioned themselves to attract God’s attention. An example was a gentleman called Zacchaeus.

This man was so desperate to see Jesus. His lifestyle was not worthy enough but he was ready to make amendments because he needed salvation to come to his life and his entire household. He knew the way Jesus was going to pass, and then he quickly ran ahead and climbed on a tree to get a better view of Jesus, because he was short in stature. When Jesus came near and sighted him, he called out his name saying, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house” (Luke 19:5). Another case was the woman with the issue of blood, who concluded in her heart that in touching the helm of Jesus garment, she will be made whole (Luke 8:43-48). We also know the case of Blind Bartimaeus, who decided that his condition must change upon hearing that Jesus was passing by. He positioned himself to be delivered from blindness by screaming to the roof top, “Jesus, thou son of David have mercy on me.” Upon hearing those screams, Jesus stood still and called for him (Mark 10:46-52). You know what, he received his miracle. I believe there were other blind fellows around Bartimaeus, who kept mute without calling on Jesus, and remained blind till death. Really, the choice is yours!

Listen, our God does not show partiality in His dealings with man. As Romans 2:11 rightly said, “For there is no respect of persons with God.” If you are accurately positioned to be blessed by God, nothing can stop it. Therefore, you do not have to be jealous over others who are being blessed by God. “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men” (Titus 2:11). The grace and favor of God is open to every one of us to tap into. “For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor you will surround him as with a shield.” As the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, you can never go under when you have a right standing with God. You might feel left behind by your contemporaries who might have gone ahead of you in life. Do not worry! All you need to do is to be undistracted, and stay focused on the race that is set before you. Also, conduct personal audit or evaluation to find out where you have some shortcomings, and then align yourself properly to receive from God. As you go this week, position yourself in prayer, in studying and meditating on God’s word, in giving, in love towards others, in thanksgiving, in patience and longsuffering.
