The Danger of Being at Ease in Zion

Let me begin by saying that Christianity is a call to action. It’s a call to duty. Yes, it’s a call to exercise your dominion mandate as a child of God. Unfortunately, you can’t exercise your dominion by loafing around or sitting back on a rocking chair sipping a cup of coffee. Hear me, the die is cast. A lot is at stake for believers in Christ at this time. If you’re sensitive to the things of the spirit, the atmosphere has changed. For those who know, they’re on an alert mode. You cannot afford to be unprepared at this hour. This is not the time to play church. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and engage in warfare. It is unfortunate to note that many believers in Christ are at ease. Unknowingly, many are in captivity. It is sad in recent times to see unnecessary arguments and debates in Christian circles on matters relating to tithes and offering, whether or not gospel musicians should get paid a fee as they sing in churches. So much noise in the air that’s generating huge distraction from focusing on our God-given assignment to “Go ye into the worlds and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15-16). Today, many believers are wallowing in ignorance. Joyfully, the devil is having a field day because he thrives on people’s ignorance. It’s time to arise and take your stand for Christ.
Amos 6:1 declares, “Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who feel secure on the mountain of Samaria.” What does it mean to be “at ease”? To be at ease means to be relaxed and comfortable. When you’re at ease, you see no need to do anything. At that instant, you become complacent even in the face of imminent danger. When Soldiers are at ease, they stand in a slightly relaxed position with legs spread wide apart and their hands behind their back. The danger is that it’s at this moment that the enemy strikes the most. If you observe lately, nowhere in the world is safe again. Today we see disruptive leadership in the United States, war in the middle east, unprecedented migration problems around the world, corruption, kidnapping, poverty, and leadership failure in Africa. Listen, God is speaking to us in all of these things happening right now. It’s only those who pay attention to his voice that can hear what he is saying. Jesus said in Luke 8:8, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” In Revelation 2:7, he rephrased the statement by saying, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Indeed, God wants to get the attention of the church at this hour.
As a child of God, you and I are the – ecclesia – church of Jesus of Christ. And what is the Spirit of God saying to us at this hour? The answer is simply stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14 which says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Ask yourself: As a Christian, in what area am I at ease? In general, does my life bring glory to God? Do I have a quiet time with God to pray and seek his face daily? Do I study God’s word to build up my spiritual life? Am I fulfilling my purpose and God’s assignment for my life here on earth? Am I winning souls for God and discipling the new converts in the way of the Lord? Can those around me – neighbors and colleagues at work – tell that I am a Christian? If you answer no to any of these questions, then you have real work to do to get yourself back on track. “God is looking for a church without spot or wrinkle” (Ephesians 5:27). Remember, God is counting on you in this hour. Don’t fail him. Arise and fulfil your calling in Jesus Mighty Name. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
