Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “The End Is Near”. Let me begin by announcing to you that we are in the last days. Just take a look at the recent happenings around the world today, and you will agree with me that the end is near. There is no generation than ours which has witnessed the level of horror and disasters as we can see today. As I write, there is a Hurricane Irma threatening to wipe out a whole section of America. Just few weeks back, same Hurricane wrought havoc in Houston Texas, and other part of the world, thereby leaving many homeless and in fear. Really, tuning to any news channel is no longer palatable. There is always breaking news which often breaks the heart. You hardly hear good news coming from such channels. Based on the frequency of evil happenings around us, one can only wait in vain if you expect to hear positive news around the world. Please, I am not being pessimistic; it’s a fact. If you observe in recent times, as one heart breaking news is dying down, another one springs up immediately.
In the last decade, there has never been a dull moment of evil happenings around the world, ranging from earthquakes, economic hardship, religious extremism, hurricanes, health challenges, tornadoes, plane crash, terrorism, kidnapping, murder, natural disasters, sexual immoralities, etc. Does this not call for a sober reflection? What is going on? This is a question that demands an answer. Interestingly, the answer has been provided right in the bible. What is happening today is not a surprise to those who are already getting prepared for the second coming of Christ. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matt. 24:4-12). Indeed, the scripture is being fulfilled at this hour. We can see what Jesus spoke about already happening today. Listen, “When Noah gave warning against God’s coming judgment and destruction, the people would not listen. Instead they treated Noah as an “extremist”. Then the destruction that followed found the people unprepared. Thus, it will be when Jesus Christ returns. As in the days of Noah, the soon return of our Lord Jesus will be a snare unto the people who do not heed the warning and surrender their lives to Him who knows all” (Luke 17:26-30).
What is the way out? Embrace Jesus Christ, and be “Born Again” (John 3:3). Then begin to live your new life founded upon Christ. How? Colossians 2:6 says, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him”. How did Jesus Walk? Jesus obeyed His father (John 9:4); Jesus Prayed (Mark 1:35); Jesus studied the word of God (Luke 4:15-17). If you recall, when Satan tempted Him, His response was “It Is Written” (Matt. 4:1-11). If Jesus had not studied the word, He wouldn’t know what was written. Jesus went about doing good (Acts 10:38); Jesus lived a righteous life, and he was unspotted from evil (John 14:30). What else? Jesus fulfilled His purpose here on earth, and was able to say before the host of heaven and hell, “It is FINISHED” (John 19:30). What lesson can we draw from the life of Jesus? It is simple! Follow His examples, and obey His commands. Like he rightly noted before His exit, “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matt. 24:13). Who are those that will endure? They that will remain undistracted and not falling out of faith, as some are already falling apart. As a Christian, you can’t afford to live anyhow at this hour. The consequence is High! Therefore, Be prepared! And remember, “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil. 2:12); and “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev.2:17). Have a great week. With love, Elvis!
