Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you on what I title, “Do Not Lose Your Guard”. One great privilege that God gave to man is his freedom to make choices in life. Angels do not have such privilege. They act as they are told. God didn’t create man to be like a robot. Man has the singular honor to reason with God, ask questions, and even decide to obey or disobey. Though, beautiful as it may appear, man’s choices in life also carries its consequences. The Almighty God said in Deut.30:19, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life that both you and your descendants may live.” God will always offer a better choice to man, but then, He can’t force us to obey Him. Our obedience to God must come from a willing heart. It cannot not be coerced by God. As Jesus rightly said, “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). God has set a boundary for man, but man always wants to explore outside the boundary set by God. Unfortunately, each time he goes outside of that boundary, there are always consequences. We saw that in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. The bible declares in Ecclesiastes 10:8, “Whosoever breaks a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” Meaning, do not invite trouble by going beyond your boundary. It does not cease to amaze me each time I watch the National Geographic Channel and see the lions prowling around herds of buffalo. The moment the lion spots any buffalo that loses its guard by straying away from the group, they launch an attack with full force. Listen, there is nothing that happens to a child of God without a warning sign. It’s just that we do not hear or we ignore what we hear. Whenever the enemy is lurking around, the spirit of God in you will always give a hint. Many times, we suppress such red alerts when it beeps. For instance, if you are lady and your boss is always making passes at you, then that is a red alert beeping. What does that mean? Be watchful because he is heading somewhere. Really, the root of our many problems in life can be traced down to our disobedience. Remember, “If you are willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19). In recent times, there has been unprecedented casualties in the body of Christ. Many believers have been left wounded by the enemy. Jesus said, “The Prince of this world comes and hath nothing in me” (John 14:30). You become naked without covering when Satan has something in your life. Adam & Eve realized they were naked the moment they disobeyed God. Remember, we are in the last days, and the days are evil. There is a saying that, “You cannot stop the bird from flying above your head, but you can stop it from building a nest on your head”. The level of wickedness in our society today has risen so high. To overcome, it will only take radical opposition to the injustices of the wicked by believers who won’t lose their guards. As the scripture said, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matt.11:12). Never forget, “Give no place to the devil” (Eph.4:27), and do not Lose your Guard. With love, Elvis!
