The Power of Consistency

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you on what I title, “The Power of Consistency”. Having studied abroad and returned back to Nigeria, it was quite exciting to be enlisted into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to serve my country. While at the NYSC Camp, I realised it does not matter the weather condition – rain or sun – we must be out in the parade ground for early morning parade and exercise. No Corps Member had any good reason not to be at the parade ground when the early beagle is blown. That was the first baptism of fire I got when I returned back to Nigeria. Really, it was a high-impact 21 days in the orientation camp, and I learnt valuable lessons from that experience. Now as a child of God, you have no excuse whatsoever not to pray, study your bible, resist the devil, and stand firm on God’s word concerning every situation in your life. Being an “off-on” Christian is the most dangerous place to be. In other words, you are neither here nor there.
As Jesus rightly said, “Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:16). This is one major reason why there are many casualties in the body of Christ. No serious soldier goes to war without being armed. Unfortunately, many believers go about without their armour. As I noted last week, you and I are meant to be hot for God. And being hot for God lies in the power of consistency in doing what He has commanded us to do as His children. What is consistency? It means “The quality of always being the same, doing things in the same way, having the same standards, and not dropping the ball.” The Lord declares to us in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law (Bible) shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night.” Meaning, be consistent – not haphazard – in reading and meditating on my word if you truly desire to succeed and prosper in all your ways. Hallelujah!
Friends, there is a saying that little drops of water makes a mighty ocean. Just observe anywhere in your house where there is a leakage of water dropping. Place an empty bucket there. Visit there after a while, and you will be shock to see that the bucket will be full to overflowing. Why? Those little drops of water may seem insignificant, but it makes a huge difference. The power lies in the consistency of the drops without break in transmission. You see, there is a revelation you catch from God by being consistent which inconsistent people will never receive. According to Kenneth Copeland, “Don’t try to base today on yesterday’s Bible study. Base today on today’s Bible study. Start with the Word today, stay on the Word all day, and end the day with the Word. Then tomorrow get up and do it all again.”
And Jesus said to the Jews which believed on him, “If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). The key here is to “continue”. Remember, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” (Colossians 2:6). This walk is a continuous, consistent walk – not a haphazard walk. Now, I charge you to arise, stop dropping the ball, and do the needful by being consistent in your walk with God. Yes, there are blessings in being consistent (Isaiah 1:19-20, Deut.28:1-2, Job 36:11). I am witness. Do not trade yours for something less. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
