The Power of Your Mind.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you what I title, “The Power of Your Mind.” Beloved, let me begin by saying that the state of a man’s mind determines his success or failure in life. It does not matter how much you pray. If your thinking does not align with God’s word for your life, you’re going nowhere. All of a man’s trouble in life can be traceable to his mental state. Apostle John wrote saying, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” From this scripture we can deduce that the physical prosperity of a man is tied to the prosperity of his soul. A distorted soul cannot make any meaningful progress in life. Now, the soul of a man consists of his Mind, Emotion, and Will. Of these three, the Mind appears to be the most dominant force. Why? It’s the gateway to the soul of a man by external forces.
No wonder God warned Cain when he noticed the murderous thought of Satan he was entertaining against his brother Abel (Genesis 4:1-11). The Lord admonishes us saying, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). If you have no control over what goes in or out of your mind, you become a prey to the devil. Listen, the Mind of a man is his thinking and reasoning faculty; the Emotion is the feeling faculty where sentiment, passion, and excitement about something resides; while the Will is the decision faculty where actions are weighed, approved or disapproved. The problem is, when the “mind” of a man is let loose like a tornado, going haywire in all directions, coupled with unrestrained “emotional” appeal of what the mind is thinking, then the “will” becomes so burdened and weak, thus yielding to the mind to fulfil the lust of the flesh. Remember, it all starts in your thinking – what you entertain – in your Mind.
The bible declares in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” You cannot separate who you’re from what you think. As long as you live, you must understand that the totality of your being is a bye-product of your thinking. If you think you can, you can; if you think you cannot, so be it. Therefore, whatever you think – Positive or Negative – you attract. Nothing can restrain what you imagine (Genesis 11:1-11). It’s your choice. As a matter of fact, your life moves toward your predominant thought. If you want to know why your life is moving in the direction it’s going, then go no further seeking for answers. Simply ask yourself: What goes on in my mind? How’s my daily thought pattern? What dominates my thought life? Is it a “Can-do” spirit, success mindfulness, or failure mindedness? Listen, you cannot rise above your level of thinking. No wonder the bible warns saying, “Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).
An unrenewed and unregenerated mind is a powerful tool in the hands of Satan. As a believer, you should understand one thing. In the realm of the spirit, battles are first won in your mind before the physical realm. If the devil can defeat you in your thought life, then he has won the battle already. This is the reason why he daily bombards your life with thoughts to get you to agree with him. But the bible declares in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
From this scripture, you can clearly see that there is a continuous battle going on in your mind. Satan keeps assailing our minds with thoughts, but it’s our responsibility to pull down his strongholds, and cast down his wicked imaginations. God won’t do it for you; you have to do it yourself. Remember, Satan is so intentional about what he does. He wants to gain control over your mind, and dictate your destiny. Never forget, whosoever controls your mind controls your life – God or Satan. Period! Apostle Paul declares in Romans 6:16, “Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves to obey, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?” Therefore, if you yield yourself – your Mind – to obey God, you will have rest. But if the devil is your master, you will become his slave. Prophet Isaiah declares, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3). Beloved, I will stop here for now. We will continue the series from next week. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
