The Wandering Ant

A few years ago, I was away for a personal retreat to spend time with God. On the study table where I lodged, I spilled a cup of tea. Not long, there was a long stretch of ants that formed a queue from up the ceiling down to the table. They were moving up and down from the table to the ceiling. Then I began to watch closely, and was enjoying how they effectively organized themselves and communicated with each other. I observed that each ant follows a particular route that leads to the ceiling. Sometimes, there will be less traffic on the route, but somehow each individual ant knows its way to their destination. Usually, when one ant meets another on the way, they stop a while to give pleasantries, kind of hug each other, and then move on. Really, they had a great sense of duty and focus.
Now, the movement got interesting when one particular ant seemed to have lost its bearing and missed its way to the top. Instead of following the usual route that leads to the ceiling, it started going haphazardly – wandering about – as though it did not know the way up any longer. I noticed it forgot the general rule of the game to stick to the route even when it’s lonely. Then I decided to follow this particular ant to see its ultimate end. Somehow, I felt like pulling it off from the wrong track to the right direction. But I noticed that if I do so, I might kill it due to its delicate nature. Unfortunately, it continued to wander off the track, until it went into oblivion. At this point, the Lord began to minister to me.
Immediately, I took up a pen and started writing. The Lord began by asking me a question: “Son, what happens to a train when it goes off track”? The answer was so clear before me: DISASTER! Then He said, “That’s what is going on in the lives of so many of my children. Many of them are wandering in the wilderness. A journey meant for one day is taking some of them a lifetime. Why? Because they have left the track set before them. This reminds us about the story of Israelites. A journey meant for 40 days took them 40 years (Numbers 14:34). What a horrific journey and time wasting. If not for the mercy of God, they could have all died in the wilderness wandering round in a circle. Beloved, you can’t afford to wander about this year. There is no time to waste any longer. “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the manifestation of the sons of God” (Rom. 8:19).
Really, your destiny desperately calls for manifestation. But it can only be fulfilled when you align to God’s purpose and plan for your life. Unfortunately, some folks are running behind schedule on their journey to destiny. As some would say, “It’s never too late to achieve purpose”. I totally agree. But your destiny is much better achieved right on God’s schedule, not behind schedule. Sometime ago, I saw an elderly man in his 70s in a school uniform. He was attending the same class with one of his grandchildren in primary one. Really, it was a laudable and bold decision that he took, but in reality, that ought to have been done much earlier in his life. But he suddenly woke up at 70 to start. I truly salute his courage to never give up. But my advice to each and every one of us is to never wait until we’re near death before we step out to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. According to Martin Luther King Jr, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Yes, do not sit down doing nothing. Do something each day regarding your assignment here on earth. You may or may not live up to 70. So, don’t wait until you’re 70 to start the journey of purpose. Start Now!
Remember, start out each day following God’s GPS for your Life, and you will be sure not to miss your direction. If you are familiar with using the GPS (Global Positioning System), you will appreciate the power of technology on display. The first time I saw the GPS was my first visit to the US many years ago. My sister and I were driving to some place, and she quickly punched in the address, and the voice over from the GPS started giving us directions – “turn left and turn right” – the next thing I heard it say was, “you have reached your destination”. In fact, it blew my mind. Really, in just no time we were right there at the exact location. Listen, God has got His GPS for you – the Holy Spirit – an expert in giving direction and guidance in all that you need or desire in life. God expects you to rely on Him every day of your life. Right now, I break every limiting force holding you bound to a spot in Jesus Mighty Name. By the power in the name of Jesus, you shall wander no more. You will hit your target, always right on time without delays. Go and Conquer in 2025. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
