What Will You Have Me To Do.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name. Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “What Will You Have Me To Do.” One of the greatest pains of life is to pursue a goal and only to get to the end and realize that you have pursued a wrong thing. Can you imagine embarking on a journey by entering into a vehicle that takes you to a wrong destination? Really, it can be frustrating and horrible indeed. Why? It’s because you have to return to your starting point, and then start afresh in order to get to the right destination. In fact, this is only if you realize that you have missed it in the first place, because a lot of people get to the wrong destination and dwell there for life. Beloved, life is meant to be lived intentionally and purposefully. And it can only be so when we connect to the One – God Almighty – who gave it to us. Hallelujah! The bible declares in Psalm 37:23-24, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.” A good man before the eyes of God is a righteous man. Yes, one with right standing with God, who realizes he has to put God first in all that he does. God cannot order the steps of an evil man. Why? An evil man has no God in him, because he has no good intention, and the spirit of God does not dwell in him.
Beloved, it’s awesome to have goals and strategies for the year, set milestones and targets to achieve. All these are great and wonderful if in alignment to God’s plan and purpose in your life. Really, the best approach to face the year is: Lord, what will you have me to do. Having known what the Lord has purposed for you for the year, then you can set your goals and strategies around it. In that way you can never go wrong. Don’t be in a hurry to set out and run. Now, in this year 2024, you cannot afford to move an inch without God’s approval. Like Apostle Paul, you must learn to ask God a very critical and important question – “Lord, What Will You Have Me To Do” – before initiating any move this year. If you understand the story of Saul who became Paul, he was an ardent oppositionist of the gospel of Jesus Christ until he met his waterloo on the way to Damascus to afflict the followers of Christ over there. Unfortunately, the hunter became hunted, and he was arrested by God. The bible declares in Acts 9:3-6, “As he journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him; Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? And he said: Who are You, Lord? Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads. So, he trembling and astonished, said: Lord, what do You want me to do? Then the Lord said to him: Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
From the above story, we saw that when Saul had that great encounter, and recognised the presence of God, he immediately asked the Lord the most important question of life, “Lord, What Will You Have Me To Do? This is a question of purpose that everyone of us should ask God. And God saw the genuineness of Saul’s heart, and immediately responded to him on what he should do. Listen friend, if you truly desire to arrive at your desired destination this year, you must seek the Lord’s direction. Jeremiah 29:11 declares, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God knows you more than you know yourself. Why? Because He created you, and He is your maker (Psalm 100). No one knows a product better than the manufacturer. God is your manufacturer. The things you seek and desire, He knows where you can find it and the right means to get it (John 21:1-6). The danger is when you want to do it yourself. There is a lot God wants to do in my life and in your life this year. But you and I must prioritize Him this year in our lives, so that His blessings will flow ceaselessly in our lives. The book of 3 John 2 declares, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” Listen, God wants us to prosper in all things, but first and foremost, He wants us to prosper in our soul. Why?
As believers in Christ, our physical prosperity is tied to the prosperity of our souls. A prosperous soul knows what is that good and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2). That perfect will of God for your life begins by asking: Lord, What Will You Have Me To Do? The moment you allow the Lord to take the drivers’ seat of your life, there’s a guarantee you can never miss your way. Remember, you do not start a project this year, and have gone half way, before inviting the Lord to bless it. No! You do not honour God by doing so that way. Therefore, the Lord God of Israel says: I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever. But now the Lord says: Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed” (1 Samuel 2:30). You cannot despise God and expect His honour and promotion in your life. “There are many plans in a man’s heart; Nevertheless, the Lord’s counsel – that will stand” (Proverbs 19:21). Never forget, “By means of strength shall no man prevail” (1 Samuel 2:9). Do not run ahead of God this year…Go with Him. Never presume on God (Psalm 19:12-14). Let Him guard and guide all your moves (1 Samuel 301-8). “Trust in the Lord with all your heart this year and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-8). Hallelujah! May Lord’s Presence Go before You in 2024. Happy New Year once again. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With Love, Elvis!
