Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you what I title, “You Can Never Over Pray”. One major weapon that God gave to man is the weapon of prayer. The bible says, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thes. 5:17). Meaning, pray at all times. God cannot hasten up to do certain things on the earth except there are intercessors – men and women – praying to see His move and power on the earth. Before the arrival of Jesus on the earth, there were people interceding and praying to see His coming. One of which was an elderly man in Jerusalem called Simeon. The Lord told him that he will not see death until he sees the coming of the Lord Jesus. And when he saw the child – Jesus – during His dedication at the temple, Simeon said, “Lord, now You are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation which you have prepared before the face of all peoples” (Luke 2:29-31). Hallelujah!

Listen, a man or woman who prays is not far from divine revelations (Daniel 9:20-24). I am not talking about empty prayers we see today that lack depth and are selfish. No! I mean prayers that call forth the kingdom of God to be established on the earth; I mean prayers demanding to see nations turning to Christ. I mean prayers that want to see killings, terrorism, and all kinds of evil bow before the Lordship of Jesus; I mean prayers that want to see the righteous taking the positions of authority while the wicked bows (Proverbs 29:2). Hallelujah! The Bible declares that, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16). If there is one thing that scares the devil to death, it is a Christian who knows how to pray. The Queen of Scotland, once said, “I fear the prayers of John Knox more than all the assembled armies of Europe.” Who is John Knox? He was a Scottish clergyman and leader of the Protestant Reformation who brought reformation to the church in Scotland. Imprisoned during the late 1540’s for supporting the Protestant Reformation in Scotland, Knox prayed daily, “Lord, give me Scotland, or I die”. By the time he died in 1572, Scotland had been transformed and the Scottish Parliament had adopted the Reformation doctrines. Some of the first missionaries to America were from Scotland.

Hear me, when the true sons and daughters of God arise to pray, something happens (Acts 4:29-31). The devil knows it so well. For this reason, he throws all kinds of distractions to cause complacency and laziness in prayer. If I may ask: How consistent is your prayer life? Do you often notice it is the hour that you want to pray or study the word, that you start getting distracted or feeling dizzy and wanting to sleep. You know why? Satan knows the danger the 10-minutes of your undistracted prayer can cause to his kingdom. Therefore, he would rather set an ambush against you to avert such prayers from taking place. “Then Jesus came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter: What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matt. 26:40-41). From the above scripture we can see what happened when Jesus took few of His disciples to a mountain side to pray. But unfortunately, they all fell asleep at the critical moment Jesus needed them to watch together with him in prayer. Hear me, prophetic declarations over your life can only be birthed by prayer. If you do nothing, the enemy will frustrate, delay, and if possible, truncate the very purpose of your life (John 10:10). Beloved, you can’t afford to be sleeping at this hour, especially in this Kairos season of God to bless and favour the works of your hand.

The word “Kairos” is an ancient Greek word meaning the right, critical, opportune and decisive moment. Yes, it is a time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action. Listen, this is your opportune moment. Now, arise in prayer for the fulfilment of all that God has spoken concerning your life. It is time to be serious. And more importantly, I would also like you to change your lines of prayers that centers only on having your needs met. James 4:3 declares that, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” There is nothing wrong when you genuinely ask God for your heart desires. Psalms 37:4 says, “The Lord will give you the desires of your heart”. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things – your heart desires – shall be added unto you” (Matt. 6:33). Therefore, you should rather always pray to see God’s need met. God’s need is to see individuals and nations turning to Him. So, start asking God for big things that gladdens His heart. He said in Psalm 2:8, “Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.” Remember, in meeting God’s need yours will surely be met.
