Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be looking at the concluding part of the series we began two weeks ago titled, “Conquering Self-Limitations.” Really, we have dealt extensively on the root causes of self-limitations in our lives. Please permit me, as today’s message will be a bit longer than usual, because I plan to conclude the series without further extension. Today, we shall be focusing on key strategies to overcoming self-limiting forces and challenges facing our lives. Last week, I shared with you how I opened the door to the demon of masturbation into my life through a pornographic movie I watched. At that moment, I saw myself derailing from the path of life. I was like a drunken man totally lost in the dark – and fruitlessly trying to find a gleam of light through the path of life – but to no avail. Struggling and not knowing a way out, I became physically, mentally, and emotionally drained.

Not long, I was struck by a terrible sickness that almost took my life. I remembered, being afflicted with various sicknesses ranging from – unbearable migraine headache, incessant cough with blood coming out, kidney problems, heart beat disorder, and bodily emaciation – whereby I became a shadow of myself – looking like a skeleton. I was taken to various hospitals in Lagos with no hope. It was at this point I realized that if I was to survive and live again, the only recourse I have left is Jesus. The bible says, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans10:13). You know, no one genuinely call upon the Lord and get denied. In my weakness and pain, still battling with masturbation, I cried out to Jesus for help, asking him to give me healing and deliverance as a birthday gift. This encounter occurred on the 18th of June, a day before my birthday, which is 19th June. Then I pleaded with Jesus for mercy and forgiveness, and then made two vows to him saying: Lord Jesus, if you will heal and deliver me today, (1) I will stay pure before you without going near a woman till I get married; (2) I will preach your gospel round the world.

The Lord saw the anguish of my soul with tears running down my eyes. Immediately, He answered me with an audible voice: “You are Healed”. What happened to me was like a movie. His Spirit hit me like an avalanche. The surge of his power was too strong for any disease or demon of masturbation afflicting my life to handle. I got my healing and freedom in that instant. Hallelujah! From that day, about a quarter of a century ago, I have never looked back. I became on fire for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not long, I moved to South Africa and gained admission to study at Wits University in Johannesburg. I stayed through for over 10 years – not going near a woman or back to my vomit – till I got married. Did Satan still tempt me – Oh yes – but I overcame each time. This is my testimony, and yours is next, if you give your life to Jesus Christ. There is no problem or mountain too big for Jesus to surmount (Isaiah 49:24-26). He is “Ekwueme”, “Alagbara giga” (the one who says and does it; the mighty man in battle).

He lifted me up above my enemies and placed my feet upon their necks. What Satan thought to destroy my life became a tool in God’s hands to deliver many from the clutches of the devil. Really, I can’t count the number of young people – both home and abroad – the Lord Jesus has used my testimony to deliver from the grip of masturbation and brought deliverance to their lives. To shock you, since I shared this testimony last week, many who were bound by similar predicament I experienced have been set free. Yes, I got their messages and prayed with some on the phone. You know, Satan thrives in secrecy. When you open up the sin – that petrifying wound and sore you have been covering – the healing power of God flows (Proverbs 28:13). Now, if I may ask: What are you captive of? What is limiting your life? What are those things blocking you from achieving your life destiny? Is it a hidden sin – alcoholism, adultery, stealing, addiction to cigarettes or drugs, pornography, masturbation, fornication, gluttony, anger, unforgiveness, offence, just name it – that is hindering your life? You know what? Jesus nailed them all at the cross and said it is FINISHED (John 19:30).

In life, if your problem takes you away from God, rather to His presence, you have a long journey to embark on. One major lesson I learned from my predicaments was that, demonic strongholds are rooted in the SOUL – Mind, Will, and Emotion. When someone is possessed by the demon of masturbation or any other unclean spirit, it hijacks their soul. Unfortunately, you can no longer think straight – no control over your feelings or passions – and you become vulnerable as you lack the willpower to resist the biddings of the devil (James 4:7). No wonder Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

One thing the Lord made me to understand when I got delivered was that, there is no vacuum in the spirit. No territory is left unoccupied in the spirit – it is either God or Satan in charge of the place. When Jesus cleaned me up, I was not perpetually cleaned at that instant, even though my spirit was reborn. He expected me to daily stay clean by studying and meditating on His words, otherwise I become dirty again. And by being dirty, you invite the demons back (Matthew 12:43-45). Remember, nobody takes a bath and stay perpetually clean for life without showering again. It is by your continuous bathing that you stay clean, otherwise you stink. Now, what is the secret to your deliverance and staying delivered? Repent of any known sin in your life, invite Jesus by giving your life to him, then live by his word by studying and obeying his commands (John 8:31-32).
