Count Your BLESSINGS

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today I will be sharing with you what I title, “Count Your BLESSINGS”. I woke up this morning with a song in my heart. It is a popular song we all know with lyrics that goes: “Count your blessings, name them one by one; count your blessings and see what the Lord has done; count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done”. More often than not, we preoccupy our minds with what the Lord hasn’t done for us in the present, while forgetting how good and caring He has been in times past. With barely few weeks to say good-bye to 2022, many are already looking back in regret because of what they didn’t achieve. To them 2022 is an unfruitful year. If I may ask: Can you breathe? Did you wake up this morning? Do you go out and come in safely each day? Can you eat without a tube or pipe being passed through your throat? Can you walk, talk, take shower, and put on clothes by yourself? Can you visit the rest room without difficulty? If your answer to any of these simple but fundamental basic needs of life is “yes”, then God has been so good to you.
If you doubt, visit the nearest hospital around you and see those whose needs are no longer to pursue a career, build a house, get a job or buy a car – but praying and crying before God to show them mercy to be able to stand and walk again; some are trusting God to be able to breathe normally without the aid of an oxygen. Listen, I have seen people giving testimonies of how God delivered them from sleeplessness – insomnia. But here you are – sleeping and waking up each day with ease – and yet you do not attach any importance to it. If God should cease the air that we breathe for few seconds, the entire mankind will go extinct. But unfortunately, many of us do not consider all these things. Our eyes are so glued to what God has not done, forgetting all His goodness.
Hear me, an ungrateful person can never be great in life. Those who go about angry with God for what He has not done for them are simply ingrates, and immature specie of people that needs to grow up. They end up delaying their blessings, and stay perpetually frustrated until they have a change of heart towards God. But those with a heart full of gratitude towards God will always receive more from Him. Christmas is coming and the year is drawing to an end, and there is no money or food on the table. The question is: Can you still thank God in such situation? The answer is yes! Psalm 107:1 declares, “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good.” If you can thank God in moments of difficult times, then you set yourself up for more blessings from Him. David said, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:8-10).
Listen, stop going about as though the Lord has forsaken you. No! He said, “I will not leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). He is a God that can never lie (Numbers 23:19). If He says a thing, He will do it (Isaiah 55:11). He watches over His word to ensure that it comes to pass (Jeremiah 1:12). So, never go about carrying a frustrated look on your face when things aren’t going the way you expect. If you do, it only shows how long you will remain in such situation. As a believer in Christ Jesus, we’re not like those in the world without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Therefore, you should learn to maintain an attitude of praise even in trying times (Philippians 4:4-8). It is the duty of the devil to always throw at you pictures of your unmet needs so you can despise God as being uncaring. Do not be ignorant of the devil’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). Just let the devil know that being alive is enough testimony to be thankful to God. Friend, count your blessings and name them one by one – and you will be amazed how it outweighs what God has not done. Have a BLESSED and FULFILLED Week! With love, Elvis!
