Holding On To God’s Word.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Holding On To God’s Word.” In life, there’s only one thing that can keep you going when all else fails. Do you know what it is? The word of God. The word of God is God himself. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1;14). From the scripture we just read, we can see that God’s word became flesh. Meaning, it is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). Listen, God and His word are inseparable. Jesus declared in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” God does not talk anyhow. He says what He means and means what He says. “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it, says the Lord” (Isaiah 55:11). Hallelujah!
Hear me friend, God cannot lie, His word cannot fail. The bible declares in Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” You see, man may say one thing and do another thing. Why? It’s because man at his best is still fallible. How many times have you seen people make certain promises but unable to fulfil them? We see that a lot with our politician. They even get surprised when we believe what they are saying. Even with their good intentions, circumstances beyond men might surface and they are unable to keep to their promises. No wonder God admonishes us in Jeremiah 17:5-8 saying, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
If there’s one lesson I have learnt in life, it is to never pursue after men for help. Yes, God uses men to help us. But first and foremost, pursue after God, then He will cause men to chase after you to help you. You must understand how the equation works. Never keep a diary of names of people you want to call or disturb for help without God’s approval. Otherwise, you become a nuisance before them because you have been tagged as a beggar. Keep your diary centered on God, then He will drop names of people that you should meet. Even before you meet them, God would have worked on their hearts to be favorable to you. There’s something called pleasant surprises with God. This is where He touches someone’s heart to bless you without you asking. This level of grace is reserved to those who trust and make God’s word their topmost priority. Listen, circumstances cannot change what God has said or promised He will do in your life. Rather, circumstances or situations will line up to God’s word concerning you. Hallelujah!
Beloved, hold on to God’s word in your life. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). It is the truth of God’s word you have received that liberates you from confusion, poverty, oppression, sickness and disease, and all forms of delay in your life. What has God said to you in 2023? Are you still holding on to that word? Listen, the word of God is an accelerator. God’s word is the vehicle itself for the fulfilment of His Word. “Then said the Lord unto me, thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it” (Jeremiah 1:12). The word of God does not idle about; it moves. The moment you hold on to God’s word in your life, it goes to work. The bible says in Psalm 107:20, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.” Yes, the word of God is a mover. It goes to work when it is released. What restrains its fulfilment is our lives is our unbelief.
When Mary, the mother of Jesus, was visited by Angel Gabriel, and she was told that she will conceive and bear a son, she was shocked and surprised, but did not argue or doubt with the Lord. She responded, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38). And the scripture went further to say in Luke 1:45, “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told to her from the Lord.” Why? Mary believed in the word that was sent, and there was a fulfilment of what God had spoken concerning her. She did not restrain the fulfilment through unbelief. Hebrews 3:12 declares, “Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God.” We depart from God when we do not hold on to His word. I pray as you go this week, you will hold on to God’s word. For the word of God lives, abides, and endures forever (1 Peter 1:25). Hallelujah! I believe you have been richly blessed. Have a Fabulous and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
