Keep Moving Forward.

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Keep Moving Forward.” The Chambers Dictionary defines the word “move” to mean “to change position; make progress; or to go in a specified direction or manner.” One powerful thing about “moving” is that you can either move forward or backward. As important as movement is, what matters most is the direction of movement. A question remains: Are you moving forward or backward in life? According to Martin Luther King Jr. “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Beloved, life is meant to be a forward movement, and not backward movement. Today, we’re living in a time when many people, especially believers in the body of Christ, are moving backward rather than forward. A lot is expected of us as Christians in this season. Unfortunately, we can’t achieve what is expected of us when we move one step forward, and ten steps backward.
“And the LORD said to Moses, Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to Go Forward” (Exodus 14:15). If you read the entire chapter of Exodus 14, you will see how going backward and not forward can hinder one’s progress and miracle if God does not intervene. The children of Israel had been assured of God’s deliverance from Egypt, but the circumstances surrounding them could not allow them to grasp it. Why? They focused on their problems and made it bigger than their God. Whenever you make your problems bigger than God, you put God in a box – a position where He cannot help you. “For without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrew 11:6). A lot of people allow both present and past circumstances of life to destabilize them. Each time they look back – they get stuck because their past misfortunes and failures have become a huge mountain – a stumbling block from reaching forward to their future victories. Steve Mueller, founder of Planet of Success, said, “Moving forward means not to accept the calamities of life to break you. It means that you are willing to continue even during times of great difficulties. It also implies that you keep fighting until the obstacles – no matter how huge – are overcome. But moving forward also means that you do not allow external circumstances to stop you from the pursuit of your goals.”
Knowing how to effectively run the race that was set before him, Apostle Paul declared, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Hallelujah! From this scripture, we can understand that Paul knew the secret of going forward by realizing the power of ignoring the devil whenever he reminds him of his past. He was laser focused on his goals, not his past mistakes or failures. If I should ask: What is that thing hindering you from getting motivated to reach out for your dreams? What is keeping you back from taking those giant steps towards achieving your goals? In Jeremiah 7:24, the Prophet declared, “Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.” Our God is ever on the move. Genesis 1:2-3 says, “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light.” God is not stationary or stuck in one spot. He doesn’t retreat at the sight of an opposition. Rather, He’s on the offensive. When Lucifer tried to usurp His power to become like God, the Lord moved forward, and never gave the devil an inch to actualise his evil agenda. The host of heavens were mobilised, and Lucifer was immediately thrown out of heaven (Isaiah 14:12-17, Ezekiel 28:14-19, Revelation 12:7-17). Hallelujah! Our God is the Lord of hosts. Psalm 46:7 says, “The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.” The phrase, “The Lord of hosts” means the Lord of the Army.
An army is an organised military FORCE equipped for battle. You and I have been enlisted into God’s army, with the Lord being the Chief Military Commander. As a member of God’s army, you are a soldier. Soldiers are movers and shakers. They always advance forward, not backward. Soldiers are meant to be combatants, not to retreat and watch the enemy messing things up. Now, as God’s children, if we truly want to run and finish the race before us, we can’t fall short of the standard our heavenly Father has set before us as combatant soldiers. For God is the Lord of hosts, and we can’t be any different from our heavenly Father. Apostle Paul wrote to his spiritual son Timothy saying, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare” (1 Timothy 1:18). As a good soldier, you don’t wage a good war by lying down sleeping, waking up to eat, and then sleep again. No! You will be wounded if you do so. Unfortunately, we have many casualties and wounded soldiers today in the body of Christ. I pray as you launch forth this week, be determined to obey and incline your heart to the counsels of the Almighty God by “moving forward, and not backward” in Jesus Mighty Name. As you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you, you will look back at the end of this week with a shout of joy and victory. Hallelujah! Praise God! Have a blessed and fantastic week. With so much love, Elvis!
