The Love of Many Shall Wax Cold.
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “The Love of Many Shall Wax Cold.” Today one can hardly differentiate a believer in Christ from an unbeliever. Why? The so-called believers today act like the world. Yes, what moves the world moves them. They play and dance the music of the world; they think like the world; they joke like the world; and they are sick like the world. It is so unfortunate to see that the plague of infirmities and diseases the world is suffering today, the believers in Christ are also partakers of it. Really, there appears to be no difference anymore between the believing and the unbelieving. Today, the believers wail and mourn like the world. If indeed we’re the salt and light of the world, why are we comfortable sitting in the dark? If believers in Christ are really the solution providers to the ills of this present generation, why are the believers suffering the same calamity like the world? If believers in Christ are indeed the carriers of God’s presence, why does God seem to be so far from them? What has gone wrong? The answer is not farfetched.
Jesus declared in Matthew 24:13, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Yes, when the heart of men is set to do evil, disregarding the fear of God, their love and reverence for God dissipate, and evil increases. This is exactly what we are seeing today. Listen, there’s a thin line between good and evil. The bible declares in 1 Corinthians 10:12, “Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” If there’s ever a time to be extremely careful and vigilant as a Christian, it is now. Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” We’re living in a perilous time. The devil is on a rampage, because he knows he has but a limited time. Therefore, he’s set to deceive as many as possible, especially believers in Christ Jesus, so as to quench their fire and lead them to destruction. No wonder the devil is raising all kinds of minister of the gospel who are not for Christ. Jesus said, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:11).
Why are many, especially the believers in Christ, so easily deceived today? The answer is simple! Whenever God does not matter, and we displace Him from our lives, we get cut-off from him. While warning the church in Ephesus, the Lord said to them, “I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place – unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate” (Revelation 2:4-6). What are those things that God hate that you love and clinch unto? He’s saying to you to hate and desist from it. Really, you cannot succeed in the Christian race until you love what God loves, and hate what he hates. The bible puts it this way in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away.”
Listen, you cannot experience the power of God in your life when you clinch to what God hates. The church today has become powerless because it’s dinning with the world. But the Lord is calling us to repent, and return to our first love. The bible says in 2 Chronicles 2:14, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” The power of God is returning again, but it’s predicated upon our heart of repentance. It does not give God pleasure when we’re not showcasing Him to the world. Unfortunately, we cannot showcase God when there’s stain in our lives. Jesus declared in John 14:30, “For the prince of this world comes, and has nothing in me.” God want’s you free and untainted by evil, so he can freely work and display is power through you. Writing to the Laodicean church, the Lord said to them, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” May God not vomit you and I from His mouth due to our lethargic attitude towards our service unto Him.
Right now, let’s go back to the basics. Let’s embrace holiness and purity (1 Peter 1:15-16); let’s study the word (2 Timothy 2:15); let’s pray and fast like never before (1 Thessalonians 5:17); let’s show love to others and be known as Children of the Most-High God (John 13:34); let’s witness to the lost souls on the street (Proverbs 11:30); let’s become solution providers to the ills in our society (Acts 3:1-11). Hallelujah! As we do these things, our love for God will reverse from being cold to being strong, God’s manifest power will return again, and the people will rejoice. Remember, Romans 8:19 says, “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Yes, the whole world awaits your manifestation. Therefore, arise and do those things that are pleasing in the sight of your heavenly father. Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With love, Elvis!
