Word Addiction (Concluding Part)

Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Last week we began a series titled, “Word Addiction”. Today we shall be looking at the concluding part. I want to start by saying that there is an answer to every situation of life in the Bible. From Joshua 1:8 which we read last week, you will observe that as you get rooted and addicted to the study of the word, two things happens to your life: (1) The Lord will make your way prosperous by ensuring that you walk in divine direction and purpose (2) You will have “Good Success” in all your endeavors. In other words, you will prosper and have enviable success in marriage, career, business, and prosper in all things including spirit, soul, and body (3 John 1:2). Only the word of God can guarantee you all-round success with joy and peace, without sorrow. It is only Satan that gives and adds sorrow with it. “The blessing of the LORD makes you rich, and He adds no sorrow with it” (Prov.10:22). Are you struggling in any area of your life – say finance, relationship, unusual delays, sickness, etc? Then you need to focus on the word of God to know what it says about that situation. When you do, you will be amazed to see the miracle that awaits you.

Have you observed that today, it is easier to start the day with social media (say facebook, instagram, twitter, whatsapp, etc.) than with your Bible? The question is why? The devil knows that the day you discover “who you are” and “what God said about you” in the Bible, he is in trouble. So, he does his best to keep you far from studying the Bible. Have you also observed that the time you want to read the Bible is when that favorable program starts on TV, your phone starts ringing, and distractions of various kinds begin to come up? And even when you summon courage to read the word, it suddenly becomes boring, and it won’t last for more than ten minutes before more interesting stuff comes up. It is the strategy of the devil playing out well against you – to keep you far from that word you need for that victory. Today the devil has glued many Christians to their TV Set – watching football, movies, music, and all kinds of entertainment – at the expense of their victorious living and life abundance. Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that you may have life, and that you may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

This abundant life begins by staying focused and making God’s word top priority in your life. Job said, “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food” (Job 23:12). The Lord is telling me that so many of you reading this article have not read your Bible in the last one month, and many do not even know where they kept their Bible. Whether you like it or not, you are in a constant battle. The devil is busy throwing arrows against you. A lot of people are falling and getting wounded. You can only stand firm on the word. “Taking the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God” (Eph.6:17). While on earth, Jesus knew the antics of the devil, and then got himself immunized by the word. No wonder when Satan confronted him, the only thing coming out from His mouth against Satan was the WORD – “It Is written”. You can only say with authority – “it is written” – when you have studied and meditated long on the word of God that it becomes living and active in your life. Remember, you can never get enough of God’s word. And more importantly, you cannot give what you don’t have. So, get word addicted today. Have a fantastic week. With love, Elvis!
