Your Concept of God Determines your Confidence in Him.
Friends, greetings in Jesus Name! Today, I will be sharing with you what I title, “Your Concept of God Determines your Confidence in Him.” A few weeks ago, the leaders of our church had a meeting with our Pastor. While giving us the word of God for the season, he made an emphatic statement that caught my attention. He said, “Your concept of God determines your confidence in Him.” Really, when I sit under a man of God teaching and he gives a word of this nature, I quickly run with it to get a deeper understanding on how it applies to me, and the necessary action to take in order to see it materialize in my life. The term concept as used in this context refers to our mindset, thought, and disposition about God. For the bible declares in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Listen, if you think that God will fail or might not come through for you in your predicament, then you lose your confidence in him. In such situation you have a divided attention; you start looking for alternatives because your focus is no longer solely on Him to deliver. But if you judge God faithful, then you believe He’s able and his words will not fail in your life. Hebrews 10:35 says, “Cast not away your confidence in God, which has great recompence of reward.
In Exodus 3, God appeared before Moses, and commanded him to go back to Egypt and meet Pharaoh to release the children of Israel from bondage. Immediately, Moses responded to God saying, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” In fact, Moses raised a lot of excuses in order not to go to Egypt. Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them? And God said to Moses, “I AM THAT I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. Really, if Moses had an inkling of who He was having a conversation with, and the meaning of the name, I AM THAT I AM, he would not have argued with God. Like Mary, he would have responded swiftly, “Be it unto me according to thy word” (Luke 1:38). It took God so much effort to get Moses to understand, and to buy into the calling He had ordained for him. Why? At this point Moses had a wrong concept about God. But thank God as time progressed, Moses grew in confidence in God as his concept about God changed.
Today many are misaligned with God’s plan for their lives because they have a wrong concept about who He is, His dealings, and purpose for their lives. Unfortunately, they try to figure God out with their midget mindset rather than throw themselves at Him so He can enlarge their mental capacity for understanding. The scripture declares in 2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” In the current season we are in, God has no time to waste on those slowing down His work to be accomplished on the earth. He’s eagerly enlisting into His army those whose hearts are loyal towards Him. Yes, those who understand and know Him as the I AM THAT I AM, and move swiftly as He commands them. Now, what helps to bring about having the right concept of God? Really, it’s the revelation of God that we have, His dealings in our lives, and our faith in Him. Romans 8:28 declares, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” If I may ask: What do you know about God that gives you confidence in Him? Are you willing to open your heart before God for an encounter that will make you see Him from a different perspective?
As believers, we must be in the company of those who “Know”. Why? When you know, you have the right concept of God. And this knowing can only come by revelation of who God is. Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:15-18 saying, “Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened.” Now, one thing is for God to reveal Himself to you, and another thing is to latch on it by Faith. If you observed, God revealed himself to Moses. Unlike Mary, Moses could not grab it by faith immediately. But God didn’t give up on him until he got it. I pray as you go this week, the Lord God Almighty will grant you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him so that the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened, and by faith you would have the right concept of God that cannot be shaken in Jesus Mighty Name. Hallelujah! Have a Blessed and Fantastic Week. With Love, Elvis!
